9/11 taught us how unstable our external world was. The financial crash taught us that careers are not guaranteed even if you work hard. These pivotal shifts in our external world challenged our core beliefs and has left our generation searching for answers for more than a decade. The Covid-19 pandemic taught us to pause and gave us the opportunity to do the soul growth work that was so very much needed but ignored as we wore ‘busy’ as a badge of honor. Alyssa believes many of the struggles we collectively experienced over the last year were a direct result of the forced pause and the fact that majority of people simply weren’t adequately equipped to face that level of discomfort.
With this, Alyssa shares her personal experience with resigning from her eight-year career in the corporate world—to relate to the collective feeling. In the summer of 2018, Alyssa resigned and found herself in a pause. She was forced to sit with and confront feelings, health issues, and with questions she had long avoided. It was at that point that Alyssa started to see the connection between connecting with the natural world and how she felt. Curious whether nature could be the answer she was looking for, Alyssa felt called to start the ‘Our Nature’ podcast which is all about learning to connect back to the natural world. Life is really about pieces of calm between transitional seasons, and through her work, Alyssa teaches us to cultivate an inner stability and inner resilience that will help us to weather life’s storms with ease.
