The American conservation movement blossomed at the turn of the century during a period called the Progressive Era. This is a time period when many of the "heroes" of environmentalism created a slew of national parks, nature societies, and laws that preserved the nations greatest natural resources that we know today. So why were so many of the same men also leaders in the eugenics movement?
