Every country has its unsolved mysteries that are talked about for decades after they occur; for Russia it was the Dyatlov Pass incident. In 1959, nine very seasoned hikers set out to achieve their level three hiking award and never returned. The team, lead by Igor Dyatlov, was found dead over the next 3 months. With each discovery more and more mystery was uncovered surrounding the deaths of the lost hikers. There were rumors of lights in the sky, secret government testing and even ancient native folklore of mysterious beasts guarding the area. After the case was closed the hikers were given a mass funeral, but many unanswered questions still linger in the minds of the investigators and families involved. This week we tell their story and discuss the many theories surrounding the tragic and mysterious tale of the Dyatlov Pass incident.
