Talking about the secularizing of the faith in Europe, particularly in Ireland on St. Brigid's Day. And is the faith worth standing up for, even in our own lives? Then I have a few words to share about "the business is in the mess" when it comes to our progression in the Catholic faith toward holiness.

Join me as we discuss the erosion of Catholic culture. I share my personal decision to boycott St. Patrick's Day due to its secularization and talk about the broader implications for other feast days and traditions. We will examine a news story about Ireland's spiritual mother, St. Bridget, facing secular reinterpretation, and raise critical questions about the role of the Church in preserving its identity. Lastly, we reflect on my statement, "We want the clean Catholic experience, but the real business is in the mess" — the messiness of living a Catholic life and the importance of enduring and persevering through challenges. This episode underscores the importance of standing up for what is good, true, and beautiful in our faith and culture. Thanks for joining me on this journey.
Summary:
The Catholic Adventurer podcast tackles the pressing issue of the secularization and paganization of the Catholic faith. The host, known as the Catholic Adventurer, voices concerns about the diminishing true essence of Catholic feast days, using St. Patrick's Day as a key example of this trend. The discussion highlights a news story from the Catholic News Agency about Ireland's St. Bridget's Day being rebranded to omit Christian references, reflecting a broader issue. The host argues that both Catholic faith and culture are under threat and calls for a more assertive stance from the Church, suggesting that the Church should assert its rightful influence. The podcast also introduces the 'Saint Foundry,' a new initiative aimed at helping believers navigate and grow through the 'messiness' of their spiritual journeys, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and authenticity in faith practice.

In this episode, we discuss 'Credo vs. Fide,' or belief in knowledge versus confidence of the heart, and how only one makes a saint. Many Catholics recite the creed without understanding its deep meanings, leading to a deficiency in true faith—fide. To bridge this gap, I offer ways to build good credo and fide, emphasizing the importance of genuine, heartfelt belief. Additionally, explore my Saint Foundry initiative, a platform designed to foster knowledge and community among believers, available for free at the my website: https://www.catholicadventurer.com/jointhefoundry
Personal Story: Here is the personal story I mentioned I'd be sharing with members of The Saint Foundry. Existing members can find the video here, and non-members will be taken to a free signup form at the same link h

In this episode, I explore the moral implications of the TikTok ban from a Catholic viewpoint, centering on St. Thomas Aquinas' teachings on freedom and responsibility. The discussion addresses the balance between the right to free speech and the ethical obligations that accompany it. By examining potential threats like data privacy and misinformation, the episode questions whether the ban could be justified and highlights the grave sin of calumny as per Aquinas' Summa Theologiae. The takeaway is clear: while freedom of speech is a fundamental human right, it must be exercised with moral responsibility.
In today's world, we often mislabel good and evil, calling bad things good and vice versa. This flawed thinking is addressed in the scriptures. I explore Isaiah 5:20 and Romans 1:18 to understand God's view on those who switch good and evil, calling evil things virtuous and good things wrong. I explain the nature of good as life-sustaining and reflective of God's character, and evil as the negation of good. This mislabeling of good and evil is seen as an attempt to negate reality, which the Bible strongly condemns. Stay tuned for a longer podcast on this topic.
The Unshakeable Presence of the Catholic Church: A Stark Warning In this video, I bring you some significant news: the Catholic Church will endure until the end of time. This is joyous for believers but unsettling for non-believers. Throughout history, despite claims of its imminent demise, the Church has persisted for 2,000 years, transcending empires and eras. However, Catholics are cautioned not to be complacent. The gates of hell may not prevail against the Church, but they can still threaten individual hearts, homes, and local parishes. Crucially, after death, there is no forgiveness of sins, making every opportunity for confession and Mass vital. Remember, once we are gone, we can't seek forgiveness. Many people have spent a long time redefining "Catholic"—what the faith is, what it teaches, and how to live it. Often even we Catholics fail to actively define "Catholic" (The church, or the faith) in a miscalculated effort to be charitable and welcoming. I agree with the ends, but not the means. It's time to reclaim Catholic, to live it proudly and without shame, and to share it with others in its entirely. Be not afraid, my brethren!

The way we teach or evangelize the Catholic faith today makes it seem so ridiculous that we practically invite people to quit it. I've spent 30 years in Catholic communications and education, and today I'm sharing three fundamental reasons why people leave the Catholic faith. First, we often teach a one-dimensional, fairy-tale version of Jesus. Second, we misrepresent God's love as being unconditional in a way that feels robotic and soulless. Lastly, we fail to provide a solid foundation for the doctrines we teach, leading to superficial understanding and eventual rejection. Join me as I unpack these issues and discuss how we can better present the true essence of Catholicism. Click like, subscribe, and share to help me spread the word. God bless you all.
Welcome to 2025! As everyone focuses on New Year's resolutions like losing weight or new fashion choices, remember the most vital change is a change of how you THINK (not just changing things you DO). In this video—a clip from "Happy RENEW Year!" (https://youtu.be/Sre7H401Zj4)—I discuss why your resolutions should prioritize transforming your habits of thought over habits of action. The devil enjoys manipulating your mind, turning negative, factual thoughts into an untrue, disheartening narrative. Break the cycle; change the record playing in your mind. Focus on renewing your thinking patterns and habits of thought to live a more positive and empowered life.
