April 03, 2020God lendeth His ear to the afflicted - Darion MortleyGod lendeth His hear to our sorrows.Hagar fled from the face of her afflicter Sarai. Hagar was sad, mistreated and was worried who would take care of both her and the unborn child. Much like Hagar Christians today, sometimes experience sadness, affliction and woe! But who would comfort us? 1. The investigation from the Master. The Lord Jesus (Jesus in His Theophany) found Hagar. Jesus who is all knowing still asked Hagar “Whence cometh thou”, the reason for Jesus’ question was to have Hagar admit her problem. God wants us to admit our problems to Him (1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.) God desires us to give our problems to Him in order to be our refuge (Psalm 46:1). 2.She Shared her problem with God. God’s question elicited her answer stating “I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai”. From Genesis 16:8 we can be confident that God desires to hear our problems (Psalm 116:2 Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live). Hagar was in need (psalms 102:17He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer). 3 God acknowledges her affliction. God knew what Hagar went through prior to asking her. However once Hagar admitted her problem God acknowledged it. God commanded Hagar to name her son Ishmael (Genesis 16:11). The name Ishmael means “God hears” and would be a reminder to Hagar of God’s Devine intervening towards the afflicted. The Bible says “Psalm 22:24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.” Psalms 82:3 Defend e the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. Psalms 18:27 ;Psalm 18:27For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.”Remember Christian what ever issue your going through do tell God for He hears your prayer. 4. The compassion on the disregarder. Hagar never regarded nor considered the Lord, and therefore was shocked that God looked for her and heard (Genesis 16:13)her affliction.(Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?) God loved Hagar before she even loved God. The Bible says “1 John 4:19“We love him, because he first loved us.”In conclusion be confident that God desires to lend His Ear to the afflicted. Tell God your problems and trust that He will guide you through the problems....more18minPlay
