As we embark on exploring the role of the Holy Spirit in our spiritual growth, let us remember the promise Jesus made to His disciples. The Holy Spirit is our divine companion, guiding us towards righteousness. This eternal promise assures us that in struggles and triumphs, we are never alone.
It is important that we grow by imitating Christ and Christian role models. And it is also important that we become role models ourselves so that our lives will exert a positive and constructive influence on the spiritual growth of other christian.
Jesus came to preach about the gospel of God (Mk.1:14 NET), and in turn, we are to preach the Gospel, the good news about who Jesus is, what He has done, and how we receive His benefits. Jesus sought out sinners by going into their midst, so likewise, we are to go out to seek lost souls. Therefore, be an ambassador (apostolos) of Christ (2 Cor. 5:20) just as Christ is an apostle (apostolos) for God.
Peter says Christ has set an example in suffering and we are called by God to suffer for doing right as a Christian and to share in Christ’s suffering. Christ’s response to unjust treatment shows how Christians should respond to their own suffering – no retaliation but rather, joy, thanksgiving and entrusting ourselves to God.
As a disciple of Christ, we are to be like Him in obedience. It would be ironic to call Jesus Christ Lord and say we love Him but fail to obey Him, for He says “If you love Me, you will obey My commandments” (Jn.14:15 GNT) and “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord, ’ and do not do what I say?” Therefore, we must commit ourselves to obey Him in all aspects of our lives.
1 John 2:16 TLB says that “Anyone who says he is a Christian should live as Christ did.” So make sure our thoughts, words and acts reflect Christ. We can do this by learning how He thinks, how He speaks (to God and man), and how He acts.
We are to seek to fulfil God’s plan by becoming Christ-like. Allow the Holy Spirit to work in us, giving us the desire and the power to achieve God’s
In this uncertain world, Philippians 1:6 assures us that God will complete the work He has begun in us, strengthening our faith. Trusting in God, let’s move forward courageously, believing He will finish what He started.
