How can God stand by and watch the evil unfolding in our world? In chapter four the central image was a throne, but in chapter five the central image was a Lamb that had been slain. God Himself was not immune to suffering. He embraced it for the good of His redemptive plan. Before any news of judgment is given in Revelation, the cross stands to remind us that we are not alone in our suffering and that for the Christian it is temporary with eternal purposes!
