The second part of a study on Ezekiel 38 and 39. The question Pastor Robert Rohlin takes up is whether the Bible actually points to Russia here, and he is careful with the answer. The Hebrew word rosh in Ezekiel 38:2 most likely means chief or head rather than being a proper name, and he warns plainly against identifying Meshech with Moscow or Tubal with Tobolsk just because the words sound alike. Ezekiel had real historical places in view, so the honest method is to locate those places and then ask who occupies them now. Working that way, he lays out three reasons that still point toward Russia and the nations around it, without being dogmatic about it.

The opening message on Ezekiel 38 and 39, the prophecy of Gog and Magog. Pastor Robert Rohlin works through who the players actually are, starting with Gog, which is most likely a title rather than a personal name, in the same way Pharaoh or Caesar is a title. He walks the list of allies Ezekiel names, Persia, Cush, Put, Gomer, and Beth Togarmah, and asks which nations sit on those lands today. He also notes what Ezekiel 38:7 says about Gog acting as a guard over the others, which suggests a coalition under one command rather than a lone aggressor. This message sets up the study and defines the terms before drawing any conclusions.

A study of Daniel 7 and the vision of four beasts rising out of the sea. Pastor Robert Rohlin sets it beside Daniel 2, and the contrast is the whole point. In chapter 2 the world empires appear as a majestic statue, which is how man sees them, while in chapter 7 the same empires are savage animals, which is how God sees them. He identifies the four as Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome, then spends time on the fourth beast with its iron teeth and ten horns. He gives his reasons for holding that this part of the prophecy is still ahead of us, since no ten-king coalition has ever appeared and Rome faded rather than being shattered at once.

Guest preacher Dale Thornton preaches on two of the best words in the Bible: but God. Ephesians 2 says we were dead in trespasses, and then Paul turns the sentence with mercy that is rich and love that is great. Brother Thornton spells out the condition that made an intervention necessary, that we were dead, diverted, depraved, and doomed, and then walks the intervention itself as personal, precious, and profound, decided before the foundation of the world. He points to the pattern in Abraham, Joseph, David, and Saul of Tarsus, men whose lives God simply broke into. If you have ever felt too far gone to be reached, this message is about a God who does the reaching.

Pastor Robert Rohlin examines Daniel's dream in Daniel 7 and shows what will be happening in Europe during the end times and how you can see Europe's recent history carrying out Daniel's prophecy. In one respect, it is frightening to see how Europe and other parts of our world are being set up to make way for the reign of the antichrist. But in another way, we can take comfort that God has already told us the future and is preparing our hearts to share Christ with others while we still have time.

A prophetic study of Israel's place in God's plan. Pastor Robert Rohlin builds it around May 14, 1948, when David Ben-Gurion stepped to a podium in the Tel Aviv Art Museum at four o'clock and read the declaration that created the State of Israel, and around Harry Truman signing American recognition eleven minutes later. He sets that day beside Isaiah 66:8, which asks whether a nation can be born in a moment. From there he traces the promise back to Genesis 12 and God's covenant with Abraham. The message argues that Israel is not a side story in prophecy but the thread that runs through it.

Guest preacher Dale Thornton preaches Ephesians 3:1-11 on the mystery of the gospel. Paul writes as a prisoner in Rome awaiting trial before Nero, and Brother Thornton makes the point that every Christian has two addresses, one on earth and one in Christ. The mystery Paul was given to announce is that Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the same promise, something hidden in earlier ages and now made plain. He uses the silkworm and its cocoon as the picture of a life completely changed. Paul calls himself less than the least of all the saints, and this message asks what God does with a man who really believes that about himself.

Pastor emeritus Dale Thornton talks about his favorite subject -- GRACE -- about which he preached as a missionary in Taiwan for 40 years.

Guest preacher Dale Thornton preaches Ephesians 2:8-9 on grace. Grace is one of the most common words in Christian conversation, and Brother Thornton argues that is exactly why it gets misunderstood. He sets a dictionary definition beside the Bible's own, the unmerited favor of God shown to lost sinners, and shows that the mystery of grace lies in its simplicity. It is by grace through faith, and that not of ourselves, so that no one can boast. If you have quietly assumed there must be something you still have to add, this message takes that weight off.
