February 11, 2024. Transfiguration Sunday. Year B.
As Jesus stood before them transfigured, his clothes dazzling white, Peter didn’t know what to say, “for they were terrified.” Today we stand alongside the disciples in awe of the majesty of God revealed in Jesus’ countenance and presence. The one who became flesh and dwelled among us, and who poured himself out for us in humble service, is also the one whose face shines like the sun, whose voice echoes the sound of many waterfalls, whose tongue is a sword, and whose eyes are like flaming fire (Rev. 1). When we behold this transfigured Jesus, we see none other than the one in whom all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell (Col. 1:19-20).
