You’ve done and said some embarrassing things in your life. We all have. Our response to embarrassment is often to hide and be ashamed. Embarrassment, however, can also be an opportunity for positive change. This week we read about Jesus’ awkward conversation with a Samaritan woman at the well, and how being the talk of the town isn’t always a bad thing.

Do you ever struggle to talk about God and your spirituality? Most Americans do, and even most Christians do too. You’re not alone if you find yourself wishing you had more meaningful conversations in your daily life. In our series, “Now You’re Talking,” we will explore how to have spiritual conversations. Join us this series not only by being present, but also by having spiritual conversations throughout your week.
For our first week, we're examining Acts 2 and the story of Pentecost. Jesus's first disciples struggled with spiritual conversations too. At Pentecost, the disciples undergo a miraculous transformation from people who lived in fear to people who spoke with boldness about their experience. How can we make Pentecost a day that's not just in the past, but an everyday experience today?

With a sermon series on comebacks, we are excited to welcome Rick Morgan to preach in our series. Rick is the Pastor and Community Engagement Coordinator at the Jackson Interfaith Shelter. Rick’s work includes helping our neighbors in Jackson make a comeback from homelessness. Rick most looks forward to loving and serving the people of Jackson county, in part, because he sees the shelter’s work as living out Jesus’ call to serve, especially the less fortunate.

The Bible is a grand story of exile and reunion. If you’ve experienced loss and broken relationships, reunion might not seem possible. Our Easter hope is that humanity will be reunited fully with God and each other. This week, we read from Revelation about the Christian hope for the restoration of all things.
The season of Easter is a season of restoration. Jesus was restored to life and vindicated against his accusers. In Easter’s resurrection, we are restored too. The hopeless are restored to purpose. The scattered are restored to a community. The injured are restored to health.
Life wasn’t easy in 2020. After a year of global trauma, you are not alone in seeking a new moment of peace, hope, and joy. Join us in the season of Easter as we read from the stories of Jesus’ followers who are restored and given purpose for the journey ahead. May we all find the courage to spread the good news to those around us.

We’ve all been hurt. When we get hurt, we often retaliate. The cycle of pain continues. How does it stop? This week, we look to Acts 9:1-19 and the story of Paul’s transformation from persecutor to an apostle for an example of hope for restoration.

Have you ever turned your back on someone? Has someone turned their back on you? This week we’re examining stories of those who let their friends, families, and faith down by disassociation, and what it looks like to come back from denial. There’s hope for restoration!

It’s natural to doubt. If we didn’t doubt, we’d end up believing all sorts of misinformation and lies. But sometimes doubt leads to unbelief, and unbelief keeps us from good news. Is there a place for doubt in faith?

Jesus was raised, what's left to say? Sometimes we visualize Jesus' resurrection as the victory celebration and that all the work was finished. In some ways that's true, but it's not the whole story. God's restoration work continues. There is much that is unfinished that needs healing. Jesus is leading the greatest comeback of all time, a return to our divine purpose, rest, and life.
In our series, "The Greatest Comeback," we examine Easter as a season of restoration. Jesus was restored to life and vindicated against his accusers. In Easter’s resurrection, we are restored too. Celebrate Easter hope with us! After a difficult year, join us in celebrating the mystery of resurrection amidst death, the mystery of hope amidst despair, the mystery of life amidst death. The Easter message invites us to reflect on that hope which defies simple words. Let us hope that life might lift us up together.
Christians throughout history have longed to follow Jesus more faithfully and not settle for a popular, cultural Christianity. This Lenten season, our sermon series, “In God’s Name,” examines the ways we describe God and God’s actions in the world. By Good Friday, Jesus will be charged with blasphemy for announcing and living out God’s liberation for the world. As we faithfully follow God, we should not be surprised that others, particularly other Christians, might consider our devotion to be blasphemy too. This Lent, join us in committing to more faithfully following our liberating God.

God’s transformative power creates a world that is more beautiful, loving, and good. Despite this, we often respond poorly to God’s transforming presence. For Palm Sunday, we reflect on Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem to polar responses. Some cheered. Others Sneered. How might we respond today? The scripture readings are from Matthew 21:6-10 and 26:57-68.
