Sermon Title:  “Summer, Sabbaticals, and Serving the Lord”

Text:  Phil. 2:12-16

Notice the Intimacy Shared. “12 Therefore, my beloved, …”

Notice the Imperative Given. 

The Primary Imperative.  12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

The Particular Instructions. 

At all times.  12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

In all seriousness.  12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

What does this mean?  We are scared that if we don’t God’s going to get us or lose our salvation or something. 

Notice the Incentive Provided. 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
