David's Final Years - "Goliath's Shadow" - 11 AM

In this message, we get another graphic picture of the price of sin, as we’ve already seen with David’s rebellion.  But, this time, the price comes as a result of the sin of David’s predecessor, Saul.

In this message, we see the conclusion of a brief rebellion against David, but we are also forced to see that David’s best days are behind him.  His moral failure and leadership compromises have ended Israel’s best days, as well.

In this message, we have the privilege of hearing a message from Wes Akers, our Pastor of Young Adults & Families.  Wes and his wife, Tyler, have been on our staff for seven years, and they have one daughter, Charlotte, with a son on the way.

In this message, we see David’s past and the turmoil in Israel reach a boiling point . . . but, on a contemporary level, we must ask ourselves: are we guilty of refusing to follow the King, as well?

In this message, we get a picture of a missed opportunity and a glimpse into the kind of excuses we may be prone to use in order to avoid committing to the service of our King.

In this message, David begins to encounter some of his skeptics, and he is tested by his response to them after the civil war.  And, at least one of them, Mephibosheth, seems to model the right response to the true King.

In this message, we are reminded that Absalom was not the only man in Israel who had grown dismissive of David’s leadership.  But, thankfully, David begins to take the necessary steps to mend fences with his doubters.

In this message, we begin a new series in the book of II Samuel, “David’s Final Years.”  In the wake of Absalom’s rebellion and battlefield death, the king struggles to move forward . . . until Joab, of all people, gives him a less than gentle but necessary nudge to resume leading the nation.
