In Luke 23:26–49, this sermon shows that forgiveness isn’t free—it was purchased at the cross. As Jesus is led to Calvary, He calls people to repentance and then displays stunning mercy by praying, “Father, forgive them,” even while He is being mocked and crucified.

The message highlights the different responses to Jesus at the cross: some reject Him, but one criminal humbly asks for mercy and is promised paradise—an unforgettable picture of grace for the undeserving. The darkness and the torn temple curtain reveal the weight and meaning of Jesus’ death and the access to God He provides. The sermon ends by asking us to consider what should change in our hearts as we reflect on the true cost of forgiveness.
