Today we look at David the Priest in 2 Samuel 6 as we continue our Summer of Sam series.  We see how God expects holiness and obedience even in the midst of good times.  David lost sight of God's directions for how to interact with him, and it the cost was great.

We begin our look at the book of 2 Samuel this week as we continue on in our series, Summer of Sam. Pastor Jeff looks at what Israel needed at the time that David is crowned king and how that translates to what we need today from our leaders.Summer of Sam

We finished the first half of our Summer of Sam series today as we closed 1 Samuel.  Pastor Jeff showed us the fact that we are each given the choice between life and death every day just as Saul and David both had that choice.  We must learn to follow the example of David and choose life unlike the choice that Saul made with his life.  This is a powerful sermon, and will leave you considering how you can make better choices to follow after the Lord.

Pastor Jeff turns our attention to 1 Samuel 22 as we continue on in our Summer of Sam series.  God called David to be on the run as he prepared him to lead the nation of Israel.  There is much to learn from the life of David as he spent time in the Cave at Adullum.

This week Pastor Jason conitnues in our Summer of Sam series as we look at 1 Samuel 16-17.  We introduce David.  We see how his anointing and his encounter with Goliath show very important lessons for us about the kind of person God is after.  He wants to do extraordinary things through people who are resolved to be obedient to Him.  Also, the "giant" that you think you are facing may not be quite as big as you think it is.

We continue in our Summer of Sam series this week, as we look at 1 Samuel 13 and consider the fact that Saul chose to not obey God's directions as the leader of Israel and it caused him to lose the favor of God over his reign.  We are called to repent, return, and obey our God.  Obedience is the key to following after the Lord in a way that honors Him.

We continue our series, Summer of Sam, with a look at 1 Samuel 8.  Pastor Jeff reminds us that holiness and obedience are not hereditary.  Samuel was the last judge of Israel, but he neglected his duties as a father to his children.  We can choose to be like eveeryone else in the way that we parent our children, or we can choose to be obedient to how God has called us to live.

This week we look at 1 Samuel 2-3 to see how God has sovereign influence in leadership at all levels.  We see how he worked in the lives of Eli and his sons to remove them from leadership, and we see how he raised up Samuel at the same time to be the last judge of Israel.

We begin a new series this week, Summer of Sam, as we turn our attentions to the books of 1 and 2 Samuel. Over the next few weeks we will be taking a look at the people we find in these books to see how God is in sovereign control of all things at all times.  We will see how God's sovereignty led the nation of Israel from the time of judges to the time of the monarchy.  And through it all we will find that God is still in sovereign control of all things.

We conclude our series, Live. Give. Go., this week with a look at the motivation and reasoning behind the fact that we are to GO into our community and share the gospel.  Pastor Jeff reminds us that we are called to disciple our families and then that should propel us out into the world to move the gospel.
