As Christians we will never again have to experience God’s judgment for sin, or His silence and separation. But, we will still experience hard things in life. Hard things that we can’t escape. Moments when the walls are crashing in and it feels like God is distant and silent. In the garden, Jesus models for us how we are to remain faithful.

Jesus agrees with the Father. He has completed all that the Father had given Him to do. Now, He requests that the Father be glorified as He submits Himself to His will by taking on the shame of the cross and the glory of resurrection.
Jesus’ primary motive in life was to glorify God. He lived for Him, trusting His plan and timing of events.

Jesus prepares His followers for their darkest hour, and He does it by setting their expectations. He establishes the fact that, on this side of heaven, they will experience really hard things. Therefore, instead of being shocked or overwhelmed when trials and tribulations come, they should expect them.

To cast a vision is to help people see what they cannot see. Jesus is helping us to see what we cannot see through the metaphor of a garden. Jesus sees a garden filled with His followers who are always in bloom as they receive their nutrients from Him, and as the Father walks through the garden lovingly pruning the branches so that they may grow and produce more and more fruit.

Jesus' disciples had come to believe that He was the way back to God, the truth about God, and He offered life in God. So much so, they declared Jesus the only way to life. “Where else would we go? What else can we pursue?”

The disciples have reached a critical point in their journey. They invested their entire lives in Jesus, and now He is leaving. This must have have caused them to think: “After all we have been through together, why are You abandoning us now? What are we supposed to do next?”

When we forget how Jesus has loved us, we fail to love one another, and when we fail to love one another, the world will miss the love of Jesus altogether.

When you think about the word love, what comes to mind? That is kind of an interesting question because our understanding of love has a way of changing over time.

When is Jesus going to come back? This is a question that people have been asking for two thousand years. Over the course of that time, there have been many who have taken advantage of this question by attempting to predict His arrival. Every one of the predictions have been found to be false.
