"I hope we will join him [John] not simply in patiently waiting, but through active yearning doing our best to pull Heaven down into Earth with our actions and by our love...so we can do things like reduce death by suicide for our soldiers. So that we can be an active hope and make sure that our children are not the objects of slaughter. So that we can be an active community of yearning for the family of God so that Black shoppers will no longer be the target of hate crimes. God knows we will not fix every ill...but maybe we can show the world that the miracle of prayer is not in that it denies responsibility but that it is the first step in activating disciples of Jesus Christ to do the miraculous! Come Lord Jesus, send us out!"

"...studies have shown us that the most effective way to end homelessness is to provide housing, and provide it without any strings attached. Then surround people with supportive services that they can access when they are ready. A person doesn't have to earn their way into housing by being clean and sober or by being enrolled in any programs or committed to any certain path or going to a certain church. They must only be willing to have keys to their home...But there's a problem we run into, it's hard to fund housing first initiatives because they're thought to cost too much money for the wrong kind of people"
