About This Sermon Series
Sometimes we lose our way. Whether as individuals, or even large groups of people. We can become distracted by the wrong things and find ourselves needing a little realignment. The story of Hezekiah is about getting right again. More specifically, it’s a story about revival. It’s the tale of an entire Kingdom that lost their way. And even more, the story of one man’s work, with God, to help find it again.

This Week's Episode
The story of Hezekiah is one of revival. The king of Judah, who stepped into his role following the death of his father Ahaz, had a lot of work to do. Ahaz had led God’s people down a path of disobedience. All the while, Assyria was a rising world power, ready to move in and take over. Hezekiah knew before any battle could be won, and before anything else, Judah had to get right with God. So they start by cleansing the temple. Similarly, when we realize we need revival in our lives, we have to step back, assess our situation, and consider our starting point.  Revival has to start somewhere, and it always starts with owning the problem. This week, Pastor Ryan walks us through how we do that in our lives, and where to start today.

Many of us have heard that Jesus wants to work in our lives to make us more like him, but yet we live as if change isn't possible. We continue the same destructive habits, behaviors, and patterns day after day, living without hope of ever being free from the trap of guilt we experience when we know we need to change but we just don't know how. Today's message is highly practical, offering  a step-by-step process for how to experience real life change, and some encouragement for starting the process and seeing it through.  It's a good reminder that thanks to the grace of God, what's true about you today doesn't have to be true about you tomorrow.

This Week's Episode
More than anything we want First Christian Church to be a place where you can belong. You have to be perfect to belong here, and you don't have to know all the “right things” in order to belong. That said, we also understand that “belonging” is a hard concept for many of us to grasp. The idea of "independence" seems to be a goal for many - a Barna poll recently revealed that 92% of Americans claim to be independent - but it is not God’s desire for anyone. This week, Pastor Ryan reminds us that loneliness is one of Satan's most powerful tools to steal, kill, and destroy. Instead, community should be at the heart of our faith. Jesus modeled it, and we should follow his example. This week's sermon is a call to take steps to engage in community and do life together as brothers and sisters in Christ.

we’d never reject Jesus like he did, but many of us make similar choices every day of
our lives. We spend more on coffee and music than we give to our church. We wake up
in the morning dreaming of how we can make more money, rather than how to give
more money. This week, Pastor Ryan challenges us to consider, are the lives we live consistent with the things we say we believe?

That should matter… and then we take it beyond “each other” and do all those things for those that aren’t a part of our family yet. When we do this, we make it possible to love people who are far from Jesus - together.

Then he offers some encouragement from God, that if we will retreat from technology as an occasional rhythm in our lives and replace our reliance on technology with moments of meaningful engagement with the people around us, God will replenish our souls.
