Is this all there is? Is this what life is about? Feeling like you are in a hamster wheel? So often we get into patterns of life that seem dull, dry, empty, we can feel them but find it hard to snap out of them. This week Pastor Juan Carlos Huertas reminds us that life can indeed feel that way and yet there is a promise of a more abundant life, a life that is full, present, and joyful. The Spirit makes it possible!

The church celebrates the ascension of Jesus this week (As well as Mother’s Day!). So we turn to Acts Chapter one where the resurrected Jesus ascends upon a cloud into heaven. But there is a lot more going on than just on the literal level. Ascensions are common in religious mythology, but for Christians this symbolically portrays that Jesus is now fully exalted and that everything he taught and did is of eternal importance

Each of us is a unique person, with unique gifts, abilities, and perspectives. Rehearsing the kin-dom of God, a kin-dom of love, acceptance, compassion, justice, and completion, requires all of our gifts to make it known. What would it look like to be of service through our congregation? What does it mean to use our gifts and have those bear fruit?
