Destina and Colton meet Yaquibus and attend a meeting with the Council of Celesteams. The elders of the Council (Yaquibus, Cloudron, Horbrid, Nastilly, and Versuus) must vote unanimously without celestial guidance on what to do about Gareth.

Later, Versuus brings representatives from the felicons (Sentilly, Trapeezu, and Yassafin) to meet with the Council. 

In Astramus' lair, Gorti learns about human bone structure.

Astramus takes Peghatin to the Council of Celesteams. Later, he follows his guidance and finally meets the shamans responsible for the unicorn deaths. After mistaking them for centjuenes Astramus learns the humans are from another realm.

Astramus finds the mutilated carcass of a cornufoal (a baby unicorn) in the woods where he also meets Peghatin, a faerie injured when the cornufoal was killed. He takes the faerie to Colassis to find out what transpired.
