After the Israelites were delivered from 400 years of slavery in Egypt, God gave the Ten Commandments to teach them how to live as His people on the earth to represent Him among the nations in a way that brings about His blessing. The Commandments are not about rules but about relationships. It shows us how to live and remain in the right relationship with God and with one another. Today, the Commandments still apply and are important for us to live right with God and one another to bring about His purpose and blessing on earth. Jesus said that the commandments are ultimately about loving God and loving people.
