  • Hymn-a-Day May: Allison Haygood_His Eye on the Sparrow
    This well-known favorite is sung by Adoramus and Choral Union member Allison Haygood. His Eye is on the Sparrow is a Gospel hymn written in 1905 by lyricist Civilla D. Martin and composer Charles H. Gabriel. The theme of the song is inspired by the words of David in the Psalms and Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew in the Bible: "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye (Psalm 32:8). "Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" (Matthew 6:26) and "Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows" (Matthew 10:29–31).
    His Eye Is on the Sparrow
    Lauryn Hill, Tanya Blount
    Why should I feel discouraged
    Why should the shadows come
    Why should my heart feel lonely
    And long for heaven and home
    When Jesus is my portion
    A constant friend is He
    His eye is on the sparrow
    And I know He watches over me
    His eye is on the sparrow
    And I know He watches me
    I sing because I'm happy
    I sing because I'm free
    His eye is on the sparrow
    And I know He watches me (He watches me)
    His eye is on the sparrow
    And I know He watches
    I know He watches
    I know He watches me
    I sing because I´m happy
    I sing because I´m free
    His eye is on the sparrow
    And I know He watches me (He watches me)
    His eye is on the sparrow
    And I know He watches me (He watches me)
    He watches me
    I know
    He watches
    Me

  • Hymn-a-Day May 5.13: Choral Union _To God be the Glory
    In this May 13 selection of Hymn-a-Day May with Peggy Graff and Friends we hear the FUMCFW Choral Union's encore performance of "To God Be The Glory" by Lou Fellingham:
    To God Be the Glory
    To God be the glory! Great things He has done!
    So loved He the world that He gave us His Son;
    Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
    And opened the life-gate that all may go in.
    Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear His voice!
    Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice!
    Come to the Father, through Jesus the Son:
    Give Him the glory! Great things He has done!
    O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood!
    To every believer the promise of God;
    The vilest offender who truly believes,
    That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
    Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear His voice!
    Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice!
    Come to the Father, through Jesus the Son:
    Give Him the glory! Great things He has done!
    Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
    And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
    But purer, and higher, and greater will be;
    Our wonder, our worship, when Jesus we see.
    Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear His voice!
    Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice!
    Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear His voice!
    Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice!
    Come to the Father, through Jesus the Son:
    Give Him the glory! Great things He has done!
