Mark 7: 1-24

The Pharisees and scribes are questioning Jesus about the disciples' failure to follow the tradition of ritual handwashing before eating. Jesus responds by criticizing them for prioritizing human traditions over God's commandments and emphasizes the importance of inward purity.

Mark 6: 46-56

After the miraculous feeding of the five thousand, Jesus compels his disciples to go ahead of him by boat to Bethsaida while he dismisses the crowd. Later, during the night, the disciples encounter rough waters, and Jesus walks on the sea toward them. Initially terrified, the disciples realize it is Jesus, and the storm subsides when he enters the boat.

The disciples report to Jesus after their mission, and he invites them to rest. However, a large crowd follows them, prompting Jesus to compassionately teach and heal. As evening approaches, the disciples suggest sending the people away to find food, but Jesus instructs them to feed the crowd. With only five loaves and two fish, Jesus blesses the food, and it miraculously multiplies, satisfying the entire multitude.

Mark 6 14-29

King Herod hears about the miracles performed by Jesus and is troubled by the possibility that John, whom he had beheaded, has come back to life. The passage details the events leading to John's execution, highlighting the consequences of Herod's rash vow, the influence of Herodias, and the eventual fulfillment of the gruesome request to behead John.

Jesus returns to his hometown of Nazareth and teaches in the synagogue. The people are amazed at his wisdom and miracles, but they also express doubt and skepticism. Jesus responds by saying that a prophet is not honored in his own hometown. He then continues his ministry, sending out his disciples in pairs to preach, heal.
