Pass off (phrasal verb)

- to misrepresent something as something else
"The apple juice was poured into a wine bottle and passed off as a French chardonnay"

Save (it) for a rainy day (phrase)

- to save something for later / the future / another time
"let's save the cinema for a rainy day and go to the beach while we can"
"My mother gave me some money for my birthday, I'll save it for a rainy day"

Put off (phrasal verb)

- to distract / discourage / dishearten
"The smell from the kitchen put me off my food"
"The opposition fans put me off (distracted me) and I missed the penalty kick"

I could eat a horse (idiom)

- to express extreme hunger
"I can't wait until dinner's ready, I could eat a horse!"

More often than not (phrase)

- usually
"More often than not I'm the one who drives"

To overlook (verb)

1. to look down on something from a higher viewpoint
"The castle overlooked the gardens"

2. to fail to notice something
"the police officer overlooked some important facts"

Waft (noun)

- a scent/smell carried in the air
" There was a waft of fresh bread from the local bakery"

Sick as a parrot (expression)

- very sick
"he ate something strange and now he's as sick as a parrot"

to safeguard (verb)

- to protect something from harm or damage
"Child services are safeguarding the welfare of children"


Until the cows come home (idiom)

- for a very long time (to have the energy to do it for a long time)
"I could sleep until the cows come home"

Come rain or shine (phrase)

- whatever the weather
"I'm going to the beach come rain or shine!"
