Lake Texoma Daily Fishing Report

Fishing Forecast for Lake Texoma: Stripers, Crappie, and Bass Bite Heating Up This Spring

Listen Later

Lake Texoma is standing at 91.4% full, with a slightly stained water clarity and temperatures ranging from 52 to 56 degrees. Today's sunrise was at 7:14 AM, and sunset will occur at 7:38 PM, giving anglers plenty of daylight to take advantage of the improving spring fishing conditions. Striped bass activity is picking up as they move into spawning mode, though the bite can still be challenging in deeper water. Live bait such as shad and swimbaits are performing well, especially in areas around deep flats, ledges, and structures in 20 to 30 feet of water.

Crappie fishing has been particularly good this week with jigs and minnows yielding results in creeks, coves, and near brush and rocks. The fish are active in spawning and pre-spawning modes, with effective depths ranging from 5 to 25 feet. Largemouth bass have started to move into shallower waters as the temperature rises. Soft plastics, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits are good baits for bass, especially around stumps, rocks, and other structures.

Catfishing remains fair but is expected to improve as water inflows increase from recent rains. Look for blue and channel catfish near river mouths and deeper flats. Cut bait and live shad are your best bets for catching these bottom dwellers.

In terms of hot spots, the northern arms of the lake near the Red and Washita Rivers are ideal for targeting striped bass and catfish due to the natural spawning activity and inflows. Crappie anglers should focus on brush piles and creek mouths near marinas such as Highport Marina or Little Mineral Arm. The Eisenhower State Park area and the rocky bluffs nearby are also promising for smallmouth bass action.

For bait recommendations, live shad is king for stripers right now, while crappie are biting particularly well on chartreuse jigs and minnows. If you're targeting largemouth bass, try watermelon-colored lures and spinnerbaits for the best results.

With the fish transitioning into their spring patterns, now is a great time to hit the water. Whether you’re after a trophy striper or a cooler full of crappie, Lake Texoma has plenty to offer this April day. Tight lines!
