What is more iconic than to be fly fishing for trout from a custom Wood Drift Boat?  In this episode we are talking with the owner of Hayes Custom Wood Boats located in Springfield Oregon the gateway to the McKenzie River.  The unofficial home of the Drift Boat is actually Springfield Oregon where back in the 30's & 40's craftsmen were modifying wooden dories to handle better in the turbulent waters of the McKenzie River ... i.e. the name McKenzie River Boat.

These boats became so popular that an entire industry was built following the early design of these boats.   Today ,  not only are Drift Boats made of wood but are also crafted from aluminium and composite materials.
