Dr Jason Schreiber is a Forensic Physician working with the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (or VIFM). The VIFM is responsible for many famous projects, such as the identification of Ned Kelly’s remains, and research around the Coward’s Punch attacks across Australia.
In Jason’s past he’s trained in Judo and won several large competitions, as well as training in Wing Chun later on. His experience as a Forensic Physician exposes him to many cases of physical and sexual assault, and he is regularly called upon to give his expert testamony in court.
With this in mind, there’s potentially sensitive content that may trigger those with a history of physical or sexual assault, so please be warned.

Today we have Minol Tutida, BJJ Black Belt and Head Coach at Equipe Mistre Wilson Jiu Jitsu in Preston. Minol was kind enough to give me some of his time recently and we went through how he originally started BJJ, how long he’s been in the martial art for, and some pretty amazing stories of his time in Japan fighting for Deep, which was a channel for fighters to potentially fight in PRIDE.
He’s had a fascinating life, moving between countries and continuing his BJJ journey, and has had the privilege of having a lineage directly under a 9th degree red belt (the highest belt that can be achieved by anyone other than a founder of the martial art).
He’s an awesome guy and I hope you enjoy this one.
Hey everyone, this is Cam Byrne and welcome to the first Fistbump Podcast of 2019.
Firstly, an apology: although we got off to a good start in 2018, towards the end of the year life got in the way a bit, as well as some guests being unable to make it onto the podcast over the Christmas period. It’s surprisingly hard to align my schedule and potential guests, as I’ve got a Monday to Friday job and many of the people that I want to interview aren’t available after hours as they have gyms to run, families to see, or fighters to train. We have a few guests lined up for the coming weeks, so hopefully I can get into a bit more a rhythm with these episodes. Again, if you have any suggestions on who you’d like on the podcast, feel free to let me know.
Today we have Deon Perkins, BJJ Black Belt and Head Coach at Perkins Jiu Jitsu out of Hammers Gym in Nunawading. I’ve known Deon for about 8 years now, and he was actually my first BJJ coach for about 6 years. I received both my blue and purple belt from him, he’s an incredibly technical coach, and the Perkins club has grown (both in size and skill) under his guidance. We talk through a lot of different subjects on this one, but it’s great to hear the strides he’s making at his club. For those that are lucky enough to live in Melbourne nearby, I’d highly recommend coming down and checking out the club.
I hope you enjoy it.

Hey guys & Gals, this is Cam Byrne and welcome to the Fistbump Podcast. Today we’ve got an incredibly special guest on the show with us… Ralph Gracie BJJ Black Belt, head instructor at Empire Jiu Jitsu in San Francisco, host of his YouTube segment “Move of the week”… Kurt “The Rhino” Osiander. If you haven’t heard of Kurt, you’re missing out - his teaching philosophy focuses on getting really good at the “basic” or “fundamentals” before progressing onto more advanced techniques. Even if you ignore the technique, his no bullshit style and his catch phrase “bro, you fucked up a long time ago” has helped him amass a cult following online. I’m giving everyone a pretty clear warning for this episode: if you don’t like swearing, or potentially offensive topics, this podcast isn’t for you - Kurt is always honest and blunt about his opinions, so prepare yourself. I hope you like the podcast, let me know on the Fistbump Podcast Facebook page.

Today we have Brock McRobb, MMA fighter out of Hammers Gym in Nunawading. I’ve known Brock for about 3 years now, and it’s hard to believe that someone so humble and quiet is also a professional MMA fighter. We had a great chat about where he grew up, in what environment, his injuries over the years, the difference between his traditional Muay Thai roots and his new MMA focus, and lots of other things. It’s an amazing story, and awesome to hear about his fighters mentality, what he’s proud of, and his general outlook to the fight game - I hope you enjoy it.

Hey everyone, this is Cam Byrne and welcome to the first ever Fistbump Podcast!
For our inaugural episode, we have BJJ Black Belt and all round good guy, Robbie Singh with us. I’ve only known Robbie for about a year, since I started training with him, but his general life philosophy is very much in line with my own, so I thought it would make for an insightful chat. It also gave me a chance to ask him some questions that he probably doesn’t have time to answer during class, and get an understanding of how he balances so many conflicting priorities in his life.
I hope you enjoy it, and if you have any feedback on any of the discussions, I’d love to hear from you.
