I didn't think the hype for AG1 would last this long. Savvy branding paired with lack of consumer nutrition knowledge is proving to be a recipe for their commercial success.
Over the past few years, AG1's greens powder has taken the online health and wellness world by storm, with endorsements from medical professionals like Peter Attia and academics like Andrew Huberman leading the charge.
Despite its popularity, many people now recognise that AG1 is underdosed and essentially just an overpriced multivitamin.
So, why do people keep buying AG1 in 2024?

Myth busting is unfortunately a key part of any fitness professional’s job, due to the vast amount of health and fitness misinformation being spread daily over social media.
It’s no secret that the credibility of fitness social media influencers is overwhelmingly poor. According to a recent BMC Public Health article by Maher & Colleagues (2023), “Around two-thirds of the leading fitspiration accounts (Instagram) audited lacked credibility or contained potentially harmful or unhealthy content.” I’d hazard a guess that the author’s were being generous with that conclusion.
There’s absolutely practitioners posting excellent fitness content on social media every day, however they’re often lost in the noise of the charlatans spewing BS.
It’s too easy to place the blame exclusively on influencers though. Lots of people you interact with on a weekly basis are also likely strong vectors for spreading health and fitness myths, whether that’s Mary in the staffroom raving about the wonders of her new detox tea or a relative criticising you for spending time in the gym just to get “big muscles.”
My aim for this episode is to challenge some pervasive fitness myths, in the hope that it will save you time and money.

Sponsorships are a key part of how podcasters make money. Unfortunately, when it comes to supplement sponsorships, many podcasters compromise their integrity to make a quick buck.
If you’re an avid listener of health and fitness podcasts, proprietary blend greens powders will undoubtedly have been advertised towards you.
My goal with this episode is to invite you to think more critically about the information and the overall integrity of the individuals promoting these products to you.
I importantly highlight my primary issues with greens powders, the big brands using sly manufacturing and marketing practices, and the best dietary alternatives to using these powders.
