On this Episode of Fitness Unfiltered, in the wake of widespread internet commentary on Cancer Research UK’s recent ad campaign linking Cancer to Obesity with imagery that appears to compare it to smoking as a risk factor, we are lucky to be joined by Director of City Dietitians, Sophie Medlin, who helps us dissect the adverts themselves, and the reasons that so many people have had such strong reactions to them. We talk about the reasons for people disagreeing with the campaign, and whether these reasons justify the intensity of some of the reactions to it. Both obesity and cancer are both particularly emotive topics, and it can be particularly difficult to put aside out biases and pre-formed opinions when discussing topics like these, but hopefully we have managed to do this in a sensitive and balanced way. Let us know what you think!
