  • REVIEW – Nightcrawlin’ for Nightcrawler

    With Returning Guest Jordan Hoffman!
This week The Guardian and New York Daily News film critic Jordan Hoffman joins David and Patches for a ride into the underbelly of movie podcasting. It’s not as glittery as it looks. Sometimes you’re ambulance chasing the latest DOA blockbusters. Sometimes you’re looking to get off on the sweet, sweet high of a great film. And then there’s Nightcrawler from writer-director Dan Gilroy, a movie that sends the trio for an all-night ride into the mouth of hell. Happy Halloween!

    The Mystery Of Missing Robinson

This week, Katey, Patches, and David are at the whims of crazy horror, monster and dubstep-obsessed Da7e who wants to revisit American Horror Story in honor of their fourth anthology entry Freak Show and wants to dive deep into Hollywood’s portrayal of movie monsters from the golden age of the relatable Universal Monster to the internet age of Slenderman. All that plus a trivia round mini-segment called DISASTERPIECE! This is Probably In Bad Taste and a traumatizing Lighting Round question.

  • REVIEW – The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance (or Our Birdman Review)

Plus John Wick, The Heart Machine and CITIZENFOUR
This week, Patches and David wander in one continuous take around the animated, existentially empowered Birdman. The new comedy from 21 Grams and Biutiful director Alejandro González Iñárritu has a lot on its mind — or does it? — and the Fighting in the War Room guys suit up in this action packed sequel to last week’s episode. Coming next week: Birdman 4 (we’re skipping 3). It’s that and mentions on John Wick, The Heart Machine, and Citizenfour on this week’s review episode.

    TankMan LaMoustache
This week, David, Patches, and Katey strap into a Sherman tank to take on Fury, the latest from End of Watch director David Ayer. Starring Brad Pitt, Logan Lerman, and Shia The Beef, Fury is a muscle-laden WWII movie with action and broship on its mind. Does it storm into battle or peter out before engagement? DRUMS!
This week, Katey, Patches, and David rush and drag and rush and drag to find the right beat to drum for Whiplash, the Miles-led musical drama that wowed at festivals and finally hits theaters this week. Before they bang it out, Katey and Patches yell some drunken, Brooklyn-style profanity at St. Vincent, the latest Bill Murray dramedy. Where does this one go so horribly wrong? Emma Watson’s UN Speech, The Boxtrolls and “Airport Books”

Instead, the group all dives into Emma Watson’s speech about Feminism at the UN and the reaction to it, then they wonder if Laika’s The Boxtrolls is the cure to franchise fatigue. Finally, everyone anticipates Gone Girl from David Fincher and talk about adapting popular/airport/trash novels into movies while David Ehrlich tries to define the word “trash” for himself.
