Come take take a closer look with us at Newfrontiers, a global network of Christian churches founded in 1979 by Terry Virgo. We explore the role of modern day apostles, calvinism, church discipline, joyful female submission (puke), and power structures within the organization. Jessica then nerds out on cult theory and discusses if New Frontiers meets the criteria to be considered a cult using Steven Hassan’s BITE model.

This week, Sarah and Jessica interview Dr. Deborah Haarsma who is an astronomer and the President of Biologos, an organization that seeks to harmonize faith and science.  She has studied large galaxies, galaxy clusters, the curvature of space, and the expansion of the universe using telescopes around the world and in orbit. She completed her doctoral work at MIT and is one smart cookie! We had a great time speaking with her about the importance of believing in science and evolution, but not participating in the intense social divide between Christian faith and science.
