FIXED: Keep Your Eyes Fixed On Jesus
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Hebrews 12:1-33 Patterns To Draw Help From:
1. Pattern of Christ’s life
“I am a foreigner to my own family, a stranger to my own mother’s children.” Psalm 69:8
“For even His own brothers did not believe in Him.” John 7:5
“The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” John 10:10
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” James 1:2-3
When we go through heartache, we think :
“How could God possibly bringsomething good out of this?”
2. Pattern of His presence in our lives
Proof of Patterns #1 Word
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” John 1:14
Proof of Patterns #2 Church
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
Proof of Patterns #3 Spirit
“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate…” John14:15-17
Proof of Patterns #3 Spirit
“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, hewho raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodiesbecause of his Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11
“God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches ofthis mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” Colossians 1:27
3. Pattern of a purpose for your life.
God wants all the circumstances that you’ve gone through—all of the valleys and also all of the mountains—to bring meaning and purpose into your life. … even the horrible ones
