I am mad at myself, no, I am pissed beyond belief...and, it's ALL Stephen L. Dubner's fault. Thanks to Freakonomics Radio Podcast Episode 441 “Does Advertising Actually Work: Part 2” I am flogging myself with a wet noodle. (Because I'm not really into pain and I like pasta.)
For decades I’ve been advocating for building a brand rather than asking for a quick purchase. But, in the last few years, I’ve spent WAY too much money on Facebook ads with a conversion objective.
At the time of publishing, I’ve listened to Freakonomics 441 FIVE times. And each time I pick up something I had previously missed, but each time my anger grows too. Why didn't I drink my own Kool-Aid?
Today, I decided it's time to go back to the basics of how I not only built a business, but how I've helped thousands of businesses make hundreds of millions of dollars over 30+ years.
Does advertising actually work? That's the title of the podcast that got me to the title of this one: Fuck You, I Was Right. ...and I've got 365 days to (hopefully) not be wrong.
