Fernando Mendoza wins the Heisman Trophy, and to be clear, we’re not saying they got it wrong. Mendoza had an incredible season, checked every box, and absolutely deserved to win college football’s most prestigious individual award.

But at the same time, we had to address why some are calling this Heisman… “weak”... 

We break down Mendoza’s season, why the vote made sense, and why this year lacked the signature “Heisman magic” moments that have defined past winners. No iconic plays. Week 12 delivered a seismic shakeup as Oklahoma upset Alabama 23–21 in a game where the Tide simply could not get out of their own way. Despite outgaining the Sooners by nearly 200 yards, dominating time of possession, and moving the ball consistently, Alabama imploded with turnovers, penalties, and another costly fumble from Ty Simpson… his fifth straight game with one. Oklahoma didn’t need an explosive offense, they won through situational execution, a defensive pick-six, and forcing Alabama into mistake after mistake.
