What happens when NASIOC goes down and doesn't come back?What about these new WRX and BRZ Anniversary editions?We had a plan for this episode of the podcast, but when NASIOC went down at the beginning of the week, and with all the discussion about the Limited Edition WRX and BRZ from Boxer Fest, that plan was pretty much thrown out the window.I'll also mention that Dewey was at the IAG Mother Ship for this episode, so his audio had a few glitches, and there wasn't anything that we could do to fix it in the edit. Ever since we saw the three new Manual cars that Subaru said they were developing a few months ago, we have all had questions.

And recently, with hearing some of the news that came out of the National Dealers Meeting, coupled with the realization that most of the STI 6-Speed transmissions have been discontinued, this has been top of mind again.

Love Cars TV actually published a lot of the actual Subaru Press Release at that time, and I decided it was a good time to go back and watch that again, and see how it lined up with what we now know.

And he got to sit down with Subaru's Chief Technical Officer, Tetsuo Fujinuki after the Press release.

I think that there is a lot to look forward to for 2027, and especially 2028. With any luck, in a few weeks after the Japan Mobility Show, and maybe the Tokyo Auto Salon, we will have a better idea of what Subaru is cooking up.

Rally Colorado was a couple of months ago now, and we had a rare opportunity at this event.

We got to watch the Rally.

We even did our best to capture our spectating experience, and you may have seen the video that we put out about that:

Now, on pretty much the whole drive back, we talked almost non-stop about how much fun we had, and how baffling it was that most people aren't following Rally here in America. And we had a few ideas about how to fix that problem.

But as is the cast with most Road Trip conversations, it was pretty much forgotten as soon as we got back to our daily grind at the shop...

Dewey has just locked up his 3rd Gridlife Street Mod Championship this year, and more and more Subaru's are not only competing, but making it onto the podium in both the Street and Street Mod class.

Not long ago, it seemed like most everyone was building anything but a Subaru as a race car unless they were building a Rally Car. But now Subaru is back, and it seems like there are more Subaru's turning up at local track days, Gridlife events, etc.

So what has changed?

Tanner Foust is just back from driving the RUF B8 at Goodwood.
