Over and over throughout Scripture we find the theme that the Lord requires His people to be set apart unto Him. It is a sad reality that we often overlook this truth as the me-centered theology of modern pop-Christianity grows in popularity. In this sermon we will look at John's exhortation to not love the world, and why we need to heed this exhortation now more than ever.

C.S. Lewis said, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” In other words, if a light is on, if the sun is out, you know it not because someone told you so, but because you can see everything else by that light. In the same way, when the light of Christ has shone in our hearts, its effects can clearly be seen. We'll explore this in today's sermon.

"Blessed Assurance" is a familiar old hymn that many faithful saints have sung to the Lord over the years. Truly, an assurance of salvation is a priceless treasure, but how can we have this assurance? In our new sermon series in 1 John, Tested Assurance, we will aim to answer that question by examining our lives through the lens of Scripture. We want to have that blessed assurance, but first we must have our assurance tested.   

In this sermon we will see that the first step in having an assurance of salvation is having an assurance of a Savior.
