  • Wisdom Revealed
The Book of Job is one of the most searched and most misunderstood books in the entire Bible. Most people come to it looking for answers about why God allows suffering, why bad things happen to good people, and whether God is truly in control when life falls apart. This exploration of Job 42 and the conclusion of Job's story gets to the heart of those questions and offers something more powerful than easy answers.
Job loses his family, his health, and everything he owns. His friends tell him his suffering must be the result of sin. He argues back, questioning whether God's plan is just. For most of the book, God is silent. Then He speaks, and everything changes.
In Job chapters 38 through 41, God responds to Job not with explanations but with questions, pointing to the vastness of creation and the limits of human understanding. It is one of the most striking passages in all of Scripture. And in Job 42, Job responds with humility and repentance, not because his suffering ended, but because he encountered God in the middle of it.
This message covers key themes that anyone wrestling with faith and doubt will find deeply relevant. Topics include why God allows suffering, what it means to trust God when life does not make sense, how pride shows up in the middle of pain, and why God humbles those He loves. It also explores one of the most overlooked moments in the Book of Job, when God forgives Job's friends through Job's intercession, a moment that quietly points forward to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Job is a righteous man who suffers without deserving it, is vindicated by God, and then intercedes for those who wronged him. That is the story of Jesus. Written hundreds of years before Christ walked the earth, the ending of Job foreshadows the cross, the resurrection, and the ongoing intercession of Jesus for all who call on His name.
Whether you are going through a season of loss, struggling with unanswered prayer, questioning your faith, or simply trying to understand what the Bible says about suffering and God's plan, this message speaks directly to where you are.

  • Behemoth and Leviathan

Does it ever feel like the world is spinning out of control and God is nowhere to be found? When suffering hits and chaos presses in from every direction, it is easy to wonder if God is truly good or truly in charge. The book of Job wrestles with exactly these questions, and the answers are more powerful than most people expect.

Job lost everything. His family, his health, his wealth, and the comfort of his friends were all gone. He demanded answers from God. And God responded, not by defending Himself, but by asking Job a question that changed everything: Could you do this better?
God pointed Job to two creatures: the Behemoth and the Leviathan. The Behemoth was a massive, unstoppable land animal with bones like bronze and limbs like iron. The Leviathan was a terrifying sea creature that thrived in the most chaotic and deadly environment imaginable. Neither could be tamed or governed by any human. Yet God rules over both.

These creatures are more than ancient animals. They represent every force in life that feels completely out of your control. Social injustice. War. Financial collapse. Illness. Grief. Broken relationships. God governs wisely over all of it.

God does not acquire wisdom through time and experience. He is wisdom. Everything He says and does flows from who He is. And the clearest proof of that wisdom is Jesus Christ. Sending His Son into the chaos of a broken world looked foolish by human standards. But God rules over chaos, and death was no match for Him. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, God was both perfectly just and perfectly loving at the same time.
Trusting God does not mean having all the answers. It means recognizing that the One who governs the most powerful and chaotic forces in creation is also governing your life with complete wisdom and love.

  • Wild Kingdom
Does God see your suffering? When life feels chaotic and prayers seem to go unanswered, it is easy to wonder if God is paying attention. The book of Job wrestles with exactly this question, and God's answer is surprising. Rather than explaining Himself, He takes Job on a tour of His wild, untamed creation, from the free-roaming wild donkey to the eagle feeding on the slain. It is raw, honest, and full of meaning.
In Job 39 and 40, God reveals that He is governing something far bigger than any one person's circumstances. The wilderness, the animals, the chaos of the natural world, all of it is under His care. And if He governs all of that with such attention and detail, how much more does He care for you?
This message explores what God's wild kingdom teaches us about trusting Him. Key themes include why God does not always answer prayer the way we expect, what it means that God does not sanitize reality, how Jesus changes the way we understand suffering, and what it looks like to actively trust God's benevolence today.
Jesus is the clearest proof of God's care. He did not observe human suffering from a distance. He stepped into it, died under its weight, and rose again. Because of the resurrection, suffering is real but it is never the final word.
Whether you are walking through a season of pain, wrestling with unanswered prayer, or simply trying to understand how a good God can allow suffering, this message offers a grounded and hope-filled perspective rooted in Scripture.

  • Intelligent Design

What does the book of Job teach us about trusting God? In Job 38, God responds to Job's suffering not by answering every question, but by pointing to the wonder and order of creation itself. This passage reveals three foundational truths about who God is and why we can trust Him, even in the hardest seasons of life.
God designed creation with purpose. The universe is not random. Every natural law, every star, every raindrop reflects a God who is working out a plan across all of history. As Paul declared in Acts 17, God arranged the times and boundaries of human history so that people would seek Him and find Him. His purposes are bigger than any single moment of suffering.
God ordered creation with precision. The same God who set the Pleiades and Orion in place governs the laws of physics, weather, and time. Math and science exist because God designed them. That precision is not just impressive. It is a reason to trust Him. If He is that exact in how He made the world, He is that exact in how He governs our lives.
God sustains creation with power. Hebrews 1 reminds us that Jesus Christ sustains everything by the mighty power of His command. He is not a distant historical figure. He is actively holding all things together right now, and He is coming again to judge evil, end suffering, and make all things new.
For anyone wrestling with suffering, doubt, or the temptation to live as if God is not necessary, Job 38 is a grounding and humbling passage. Job remained faithful without the New Testament, without the cross, and without the resurrection. He trusted a God he could not fully understand. Because of Jesus, we have every reason to trust even more deeply.
Topics covered include the book of Job explained, Job 38 meaning, why does God allow suffering, trusting God in hard times, God and creation, purpose of suffering in the Bible, Christian faith and science, who is God in the Bible, Job and suffering, Acts 17 Paul Athens, Hebrews 1 Jesus sustains all things, Christian worldview, Bible study on Job, Old Testament faith, and finding God in everyday life.
Whether you are going through a difficult season, exploring questions about God and suffering, or simply looking to deepen your understanding of Scripture, this message from Job 38 offers a perspective that is both challenging and deeply encouraging.

  • Seeing the Unseen
What do we do when our need for proof clashes with the question: Does God exist?
In this message, Cody Friesen continues our series, Faith and Fact. Looking at Job 38, Pastor Cody breaks down how scripture and science both point directly to our Creator. From the vast mysteries of deep space to the intricate design of a hummingbird’s heart, God has filled creation with "Easter eggs" that reveal His power and invite us to explore His wonder.
We have more than enough proof to believe. If God is powerful enough to set two trillion galaxies in motion, you can trust Him with the details of your life.

  • Defining Reality
Can God and science coexist? If God is all-powerful and loving, why is there so much suffering, chaos, and injustice in the world?
Welcome to Week 1 of our new sermon series, "Faith and Fact." In this message, we dive into the ancient book of Job to tackle one of life’s biggest questions: If I can’t understand what God is up to, why should I trust Him? Many people feel that faith (trusting the supernatural) and fact (trusting in science) are completely incompatible. But today, we discover that there is far more to reality than what we can see. We will learn how to shift our perspective from trying to evaluate God based on our own limited logic, to trusting in His perfect, divine wisdom.
Whether you lean more toward faith or rely heavily on science and logic, this series is designed to help you wrestle with the big questions and find a firm foundation.
