First heard this done by Allen Damron back in ྀ, right after Jerry Jeff wrote it. Found out later that Allen was the first person to record it, when he put it on a live album recorded at The Checkered Flag, a club he ran for Rod Kennedy of Kerrville Folk Festival fame. I recorded this with my 1937 000-18 that I paid the princely sum of $100.00 for back in 1967. That was a weeks wages for me back then
