Australian elections are of course always tight affairs, but if the coalition has any hope of salvaging a win later this year they are going to have to defeat not only Labor & The Greens, but also a growing number of independents that are pounding at the gates.
Just how independent these characters remains a valid question, but they are in play in 2019 because a section of the Liberal voting heartland is on the move.
Michael is joined by The Australian Newpaper’s Editor at Large Paul Kelly who in a thought-provoking article this week, wrote about this cohort describing them as a section of the middle class with moralistic about climate change… compassionate in its politics… we off in income… but alienated from the Liberal Party it once supported.
