  • S1E9: The One with the Heretical Objections

In today's episode, Phil and Susie delve into some of the early childhood objections that Susie had to Christianity.  We will discuss the objections, how Christians might respond to these objections, and how we view these objections now as adults who've left the faith.  Asking these questions and exploring these objections would be viewed a heresy in our previous lives, so we named this episode "The One with the Heretical Objections" to poke the idea of heresy in the eye a bit, since the real heresy is Christianity.

Passage mentioned by Susie about "shriveled" hands: https://biblia.com/bible/rsv/leviticus/21/16-23  (hebrew word used is sheber, meaning a breaking, fracture, crushing, breach, crash).  "Shriveled" may not be the best way to describe this, but that's how Susie interpreted and remembered this passage due to personal experience :)

  • S1E8: The One with April and Beecher

Phil and Susie embark on a new journey with our first guests ever on the show! April Ajoy & Beecher Reuning are an amazing married duo who graciously agreed to join us today to talk about their marriage and how they navigated the discovery that Beecher was trans non-binary and how that made their marriage stronger, how purity culture affected their lives both individually and together, and about the deconstruction of their evangelical beliefs and where that's led and is leading.

April is a content creator who uses humor to shine light on the harmful, toxic and sometimes just weird traits of evangelicalism. She now identifies as a "recovering conservative" and is navigating through her own faith deconstruction journey through a comedic lens on social media.

Beecher is a non-binary filmmaker residing in Tennessee with their wife and two daughters. Having only recently come out, they are in the process of deconstructing oppressive ideologies in order to promote authenticity and a larger spiritual connection in themselves. It's a journey, but they still try have fun on the way.

  • S1E6: The One with the Errant Inerrancy (Pt. 1)

Today Phil and Susie will be talking about the claim that the Bible is inerrant, and how we can use the Bible itself to disprove that claim.  We are gonna split this up into a 2 part episode because there’s so much to cover so we want to be able to really dig into this topic because it’s a fun one! Today’s episode will focus on what inerrancy is, a little history of how we got the modern day Bible, especially the NT,  look into some various types of contradictions that are rampant throughout the text and then what a failure of inerrancy would really mean for Christianity.

  • S1E5: The One Where We Get Personal

In today’s episode, we wanted to tell a little more of our stories, but from a different angle.  We come from very different faith backgrounds and so we wanted to compare and contrast the different time periods in our lives and what our mindsets were during these times and talk about how even though our journeys were very different, we both arrived at the same place. We hope this will be an enlightening conversation between the two of us as we “interview” each other about our journeys away from faith and religion.

Phil and Susie discuss how exposing children to Christianity as a mandatory belief system is indoctrination and has lasting effects on child development, character development, personality development, and can lead to extreme behaviors and lifelong consequences.

  • S1E2: The One with All the Cracks

In today's episode, Phil and Susie discuss the core doctrines of Christianity and how logically they just can't be true.  We will discuss the Epicurean Paradox and how the character of god, the "sin nature of man, and the need for salvation, all have fundamental flaws that don't hold up under scrutiny.
