Since last Summer, I've been going to surfing spots in the beaches around Rome to take photos of surfers in action, with the main goal to sell them.

Sometimes, I also take videos, and this is a recap video I made of a session in Marinaretti, a spot in Anzio beach, not far from Rome, last Ocotber, 26th.

It was a grey cloudy day, but there were so many people in the water that it'd be impossible for me not to spot them!

I remember that day as one of the busiest on the lineups! Always fun to see and take photos of!

Last night, Marta was celebrating: the Fisherman's Festival filled the streets with aromas, music, and conversation. My family and I came here to visit a dear family friend and spend time together. Between toasts, good food, and music, we experienced a warm and genuine atmosphere that only these village festivals can provide.

But while others were thinking about sleeping late, I already had an idea: to watch the sunrise from my SUP, in the middle of Lake Bolsena.

At 5:00, the alarm went off. I had to inflate the SUP by hand; if I'd used the electric pump, I would have woken half the village. Silence, fresh air, the lake still shrouded in darkness. At 5:40, I was already in the water, heading for Isola Bisentina. Just me, my SUP, and a few fishermen already at work: the lake seemed to belong only to us.

At 6:20, I decided to anchor myself to a buoy on a fishing net: I wanted to see the sun rise from behind the mountains that form the basin of the old volcano. Before me, Capodimonte was slowly turning pink. And that's when an unexpected guest appeared: a colorful hot air balloon, suspended silently in the clear dawn sky, a perfect contrast to the soft morning light.

The wind, however, began to pick up: it was coming from the north, right where I wanted to go. I checked Google Maps: another 3 km to reach Bisentina. Too far, with that wave against me. I changed course towards Isola Martana, closer and to the east: a perfect choice for having both wind and waves on either side.

Upon arrival, I slowly circumnavigated the island, immersed in the colors of dawn and the sounds of the awakening wildlife. Herons, cormorants, seagulls: the undisputed masters of this little oasis. Marta and Capodimonte, seen from there, seemed to float in the pink morning light.

At 7:45, a text from my mother: "Breakfast?" I smiled, but I was late. I took the paddle on my knees and headed straight for the shore, battling the wind and the waves. At 8:20, I touched land again.

A short but wonderful ride. Incredible colors, a hot air balloon that made the sky even more special, the sounds of nature awakening, the lake in all its magic. This morning, Bolsena gifted me a sunrise that I will cherish in my eyes and heart for a long time.

Alba sul Lago di Bolsena – Partendo da Marta, in SUP

Ieri sera Marta era in festa: la Festa del Pescatore ha riempito le vie di profumi, musica e chiacchiere. Con la mia famiglia siamo venuti qui per trovare una cara amica di famiglia e trascorrere del tempo insieme. Tra brindisi, buon cibo e musica, abbiamo vissuto un’atmosfera calda e genuina che solo queste feste di paese sanno regalare.

Ma mentre gli altri pensavano a dormire fino a tardi, io avevo già un’idea: vedere l’alba dal mio SUP, in mezzo al Lago di Bolsena.

Alle 5:00 la sveglia ha suonato. Dovevo gonfiare il SUP a mano: se avessi usato la pompa elettrica avrei svegliato mezzo paese. Silenzio, aria fresca, il lago ancora avvolto nell’oscurità. Alle 5:40 ero già in acqua, direzione Isola Bisentina. Solo io, il mio SUP e qualche pescatore già al lavoro: il lago sembrava appartenere soltanto a noi.

Alle 6:20 ho deciso di ancorarmi a una boa di una rete da pesca: volevo vedere il sole spuntare da dietro le montagne che formano la conca del vecchio vulcano. Davanti a me Capodimonte si tingeva piano piano di rosa. Ed è lì che è apparso un ospite inatteso: una mongolfiera colorata, sospesa in silenzio nel cielo chiaro dell’alba, un contrasto perfetto con la luce morbida del mattino.

Il vento, però, ha iniziato a farsi sentire: arrivava da nord, proprio da dove volevo andare. Ho dato un’occhiata a Google Maps: ancora 3 km per raggiungere la Bisentina. Troppi, con quell’onda contro. Ho cambiato rotta verso Isola Martana, più vicina e a est: una scelta perfetta per avere vento e onda di traverso.

All’arrivo ho circumnavigato l’isola, lentamente, immersa nei colori dell’alba e nei suoni della fauna che si sveglia. Aironi, cormorani, gabbiani: padroni indiscussi di questa piccola oasi. Marta e Capodimonte, viste da lì, sembravano galleggiare nella luce rosa del mattino.

Alle 7:45 un messaggio di mia madre: “Colazione?”. Ho sorriso, ma ero in ritardo. Ho preso la pagaia in ginocchio e ho puntato dritto verso riva, lottando con il vento e l’onda. Alle 8:20 toccavo di nuovo terra.

Un giro breve, ma meraviglioso. Colori incredibili, una mongolfiera che ha reso il cielo ancora più speciale, suoni di una natura che si risveglia, il lago in tutta la sua magia. Stamattina il Bolsena mi ha regalato un’alba che porterò a lungo negli occhi e nel cuore.

Here we are again, Hivers!

I hope you are well! The week is coming to an end but my workout routine, this week, will not end on Friday.

In fact, to finish the mesocycle, I would only need one week of workouts, namely next week. However, next week I will be traveling to Athens for work, and I will not be able to train. So I asked my personal trainer for advice on the possibility of anticipating next week's workouts, anticipating them to the "off" days of this week: this obviously means not having "off" days, which however I will recover completely next week, given that I will not have the opportunity to train.

The possibility of managing workouts freely is one of those characteristics of weightlifting that excites me the most: being free from any prerogatives, being completely independent and taking the freedom of working out when you have the possibility and need to do so. This is an aspect that, for example, in the sport that I practiced my whole life as a competitor, i.e. swimming, I could not even remotely dream of. In reality, all sports in some way require commitments that are not only linked to training or competition, but also and above all to the organization of one's routine to satisfy the logistical issues related to that particular sport. For example, the weather in outdoor sports, or the availability and presence of one's mates for team sports, or recovery times, sometimes extremely long, for endurance sports. In short, lifting, precisely because it is not a real sport, unless we are talking about competitive weightlifting or competitive bodybuilding, does not require any special prerogative. Obviously, recovery times are necessary: ​​I will not hide from you that doing 5 sessions in a row devastated me. But this is because, very simply, like all people who train to stay in shape, my day does not end at the end of the workout, on the contrary, quite the opposite! My day starts right when I finish my training in the early morning. This clearly, if prolonged over time, day after day, without having "off" days, leads to muscle soreness and a greater need for recovery.

Fortunately, I am used to, also thanks to the fact that I come from a career as a competitor, enduring a lot of fatigue and tiredness: in fact, I was extremely happy when my coach gave me the green light to continue and finish the training sessions of this plan, taking advantage of the last days I have before my departure next week. Today, in fact, I am talking to you about what the fourth day of training is like, which should be the last of the week of training, given that this plan is made on 4 weekly sessions.

The focus of the fourth workout session is again on the legs, with different exercises from the first day, to then conclude with a series of exercises with a specific focus on the shoulders. Below I report the series of the various exercises, with the loads and rest times between the series:

super set 4x with 2'rest

- walking lungees 12/leg: 12kg-12kg (unfortunately my phone did not record this exercise and therefore you do not see it in the video montage)

- back squat 8: 40kg

- sumo squat 6: 15kg-15kg

super set 3x with 2'rest

- stiff leg deadlift with dumbbells: 25kg-25kg

- squat jump max rep: 16,14,16

- standing lateral raise in rest pause with dumbbells: 3x8+6, 1' rest, 8kg

- standing frontal raise 8: 8kg-8kg

The hardest part, obviously, is the initial part: the legs. The super sets KILL ME, especially after 3 days of training in a row, with cardio sessions on the bike uphill. Obviously this is an isolated case: I practically never do so many workouts in a row, without rest. Who makes me do it? I want to start with a clear mind and focus only on the work I will have to do in Athens, without thinking too much about the fact that I am missing the opportunity to do the training I would have wanted and should have. In short, my "off" week will be the one in which, for work reasons, I will not be able to train.

Not being an athlete anymore has never dented my sense of duty; many talk about motivation, willpower, desire to do. I think they are wrong: I am convinced, instead, that what pushes me every day to take care of myself, my body and my well-being is self-discipline and the power of habit. When you are used to doing the same thing every day for years, you just do it: whether you have no desire, energy or motivation. Stupid and practical example: who wants to redo the bed every morning? I don't think anyone, but we do it because it's a habit that has been part of our routine for years. The same thing applies to all the myriad of daily activities that we don't do because we are driven by a particular willpower or motivation, we can also apply it to physical activity, to taking care of ourselves, to our well-being. Do you agree?

That said, some workouts will always come out better than others, just as on some days we make the bed better or worse, paying more attention and taking more care. This workout, for example, I think went pretty well for me: despite the few hours of sleep, I had enough energy to increase almost all the loads. As I mentioned in my last post yesterday, in the final part of the follicular phase, women have an extraordinary energy that clearly balances the luteal phase. I always try to make the most of the days when my body allows me to lift more weight, to do more physical activity, because I know that days will come when I will have less strength, less energy, less desire and therefore I will not be able to give my best potential. In this case, the workout was satisfactory: I could have actually performed the back squat a little better, but when it is inserted into a super set, it is quite difficult for me to have all the little movements under control. The fatigue, during the repetitions, clouds the mind and I try to focus on trying to complete the series. It is not easy, at all!

The next post I will make about it will probably be in a couple of weeks, when I will start the new program and I will be back from my work trip... let's hope the new mesocycle of workouts will be even more exchiting and challenging than the one I am finishing these days! Eccoci di nuovo, Hivers!

Spero di trovarvi bene! La settimana sta giungendo al termine ma la mia routine di allenamenti, proprio questa settimana, non finirà con il venerdì.

Infatti, per terminare il mesociclo, mi mancherebbe solo una settimana di allenamenti, ovvero la prossima. Tuttavia, proprio la prossima settimana sarò in viaggio ad Atene per lavoro, e non potrò allenarmi. Ho chiesto quindi un consiglio al mio personal trainer sulla possibilità di anticipare gli allenamenti della prossima settimana, anticipandoli ai giorni "off" di questa settimana: questo chiaramente equivale a non avere giorni "off", che però recupererò totalmente la settimana prossima, visto e considerato che non avrò occasione di allenarmi.

La possibilità di gestire gli allenamenti liberamente è una di quelle caratteristiche della sala pesi che mi entusiasma di più: essere svincolati di qualsiasi prerogativa, essere completamente indipendente e prendersi la libertà di allenarsi quando se ne ha la possibilità e necessità. Questo è un aspetto che, ad esempio, nello sport che ho fatto per una vita come agonista, ovvero il nuoto, non ho potuto neanche lontanamente sognare. In realtà, tutti gli sport in qualche modo richiedono degli impegni che non sono legati solo all'allenamento o alla competizione, ma anche e soprattutto all'organizzazione della propria routine per soddisfare le questioni logistiche legate a quel particolare sport. Ad esempio il tempo atmosferico negli sport all'aperto, oppure la disponibilità e presenza dei propri compagni per quel che riguarda gli sport di squadra, i tempi di recupero, a volte estremamente lunghi, per quel che riguarda invece gli sport di endurance. Insomma, la sala pesi, proprio perché non è un vero e proprio sport, a meno che non si parli di pesistica o bodybuilding competitivo, non richiedono chissà quale prerogativa. Ovviamente, i tempi di recupero sono necessari: non vi nascondo che fare 5 sessioni di fila mi ha devastata. Ma questo perché, molto banalmente, come tutte le persone che si allenano per restare in forma, la mia giornata non si conclude alla conclusione dell'allenamento, anzi, tutt'altro! La mia giornata inizia proprio quando concludo l'allenamento di prima mattina. Questo chiaramente, protratto nel tempo, giorno dopo giorno, senza avere giorni "off", porta ad una stanchezza muscolare ed un bisogno di recupero maggiore.

Fortunatamente sono abituata, anche grazie al fatto che vengo da una carriera da agonista, a sopportare tanta fatica e stanchezza: infatti, sono stata estremamente contenta quando il mio allenatore mi ha dato il via libera a proseguire e terminare gli allenamenti di questa scheda, approfittando degli ultimi giorni che ho prima della mia partenza la prossima settimana. Oggi infatti vi parlo di quello che è il quarto giorno di allenamento, quello che dovrebbe essere l'ultimo della settimana di allenamenti, visto che questa scheda è costruita su 4 sessioni settimanali.

Il focus del quarto allenamento è nuovamente sulle gambe, con esercizi diversi dal primo giorno, per poi concludere con una serie di esercizi con focus specifico sulle spalle. Di seguito riporto le serie dei vari esercizi, con i carichi e i tempi di riposo tra le serie:

La parte più difficile, chiaramente, è la parte iniziale: le gambe. I super set MI UCCIDONO, soprattutto dopo 3 giorni di allenamenti di seguito, con le sessioni cardio in bici in salita. Chiaramente questo è un caso isolato: non mi capita praticamente mai di fare così tanti allenamenti di fila, senza riposo. Chi me lo fa fare? Voglio partire con la mente libera e concentrarmi solo sul lavoro che dovrò fare ad Atene, senza pensare troppo al fatto che sto mancando l'occasione di fare l'allenamento che avrei voluto e dovuto. In poche parole, la mia settimana "off" sarà quella in cui, per motivi di lavoro, non potrò allenarmi.

Non essere più un'atleta non ha mai scalfito il mio senso del dovere; molti parlano di motivazione, di forza di volontà, di voglia di fare. Io credo che sbaglino: sono convinta, invece, che ciò che mi spinge tutti i giorni a prendermi cura di me stessa, del mio corpo e del mio benessere sia l'autodisciplina e la forza dell'abitudine. Quando sei abituato a fare la stessa cosa tutti i giorni per anni, la fai e basta: sia che tu non abbia voglia, energie o motivazione. Esempio stupido e pratico: chi è che ha voglia di rifarsi il letto tutte le mattine? Credo nessuno, ma lo facciamo perché è un'abitudine che fa parte della nostra routine da anni. Stessa cosa viene applicata a tutte le miriadi di attività quotidiane che non facciamo perché siamo spinti da una forza di volontà o motivazione particolare, la possiamo applicare anche all'attività fisica, al prenderci cura di noi, al nostro benessere. Siete d'accordo?

Ciò detto, alcuni allenamenti verranno sempre meglio di altri, così come in alcuni giorni rifacciamo meglio o peggio il letto, facendo più attenzione e avendo più cura. Questo allenamento, ad esempio, penso mi sia venuto abbastanza bene: nonostante le poche ore di sonno, avevo abbastanza energie per aumentare quasi tutti i carichi. Come menzionavo nel mio ultimo post di ieri, nella parte finale della fase follicolare, le donne hanno un'energia fuori dal comune che chiaramente va a bilanciare la fase luteale. Cerco sempre di sfruttare al massimo i giorni in cui il mio corpo mi permette di alzare più carico, di fare più attività fisica, perché so che arriveranno giorni in cui avrò meno forza, meno energie, meno voglia e quindi non riuscirò a dare il massimo del mio potenziale. In questo caso, l'allenamento è stato soddisfacente: avrei potuto effettivamente eseguire un po' meglio il back squat, ma quando è inserito all'interno di un super set, mi risulta abbastanza difficile avere sotto controllo tutti i singoli movimenti. La fatica, durante le ripetizioni, annebbia la mente e cerco di concentrarmi sul cercare di completare la serie. Non è facile, affatto!

Spero che quest'oggi abbiate apprezzato il mio post riguardo l'allenamento. Probabilmente la prossima pubblicazione che farò a questo riguardo sarà tra un paio di settimane, quando inizierò la nuova scheda e sarò tornata dal mio viaggio di lavoro... speriamo sia ancora più bella e sfidante di questa che sto concludendo in questi giorni! Fatemi sapere cosa ne pensate di accorpare gli allenamenti in pochi giorni e se vi è mai capitati di fare tante sessioni senza mai fare giorni "off".

Hi Hivers!

I'm very happy to see that the launch of my content about the workouts I do in the gym is quite successful. For this reason, today I would like to share with you one of my workouts and some thoughts about it.

In particular, today's is a video I made of my chest and triceps workout, which is usually the second workout of the week in the gym.

This is the workout I showed you in my video that I did on Tuesday, March 25, after cycling to the gym... yes, I was already tired, after that crazy climb up the Gianicolo!

But enough chit-chat: since I was supposed to start my shift at work when the gym opened, like every time on this occasion, I went very early. At 8 I went in, turned on the gym lights, got changed and started with my usual warm-up routine: joint mobility and specific muscle warm-up.

Maybe one day I'll make a content dedicated exclusively to my mobility warm-up: it's a routine I can't do without and I've learned, the hard way, that it's essential to avoid injuries, as well as to get to the main series of the workout with warm and protected joints, tendons and ligaments.

When I start training before the gym opens, I always run into the team of cleaning guys, who come in around 8:30 to clean the gym... by now they know they have to be patient with me! But I'm patient with them too, especially when I'm filming my videos... hahaha

In fact, you might notice some movement of a broom or some other cleaning object that was left in the middle of the room while I was doing the exercises, and inadvertently ended up in the frame. Props!

In Tuesday's chest and shoulder workout, I tried to focus a lot on intensity: during the week after their period, women have greater strength and endurance, which is why they can afford higher intensities and heavier loads. In fact, I tried to increase almost all the training loads, without, however, dirtying the technique... or at least, I tried to perform all the exercises in the best possible way.

In particular, in the flat bench with dumbbells, the first exercise of the schedule, to have a greater focus on the chest, I tried to arch my back as much as possible and adduct my shoulder blades. Unfortunately, I have a fresh scar under my left shoulder blade, from a mole that was removed: in fact, I often have pain when I lie down and stay in contact with the surface of the bench, but I imagine that it's all part of the game.

I tried to have the same care as arching my back during the pull over exercise: here the situation is clearly more complex as it is easy to lose control of the handlebars beyond the shoulder line and therefore incur serious injuries to the shoulder. For this reason it is one of those exercises that must be done with absolute attention and care in the movement, without exaggerating the joint excursion, the so-called "range of motion".

Once these first 2 exercises in which the pectoral is the protagonist, my schedule, made specifically for me by my personal trainer, shifts to focus on the triceps, with a first exercise on the cables, and a second exercise always on the flat bench.

In both cases, the most difficult thing I can do is maintain a constant intensity throughout the work: the triceps, unlike the pectoral, is a very small muscle, with less resistance. It means that the muscle "tires" very quickly, producing a quantity of lactic acid that does not allow you to continue performing the exercise in a fluid manner. In short, the muscle goes to failure quickly and you can no longer continue.

For this reason, compared to the chest exercises, with the triceps I have been practically stuck at the same workload for a long time. Clearly, what makes me "feel" the work is above all the intensity understood as the time of tension of the muscle, the so-called "time under tension": basically, the load can remain unchanged, as well as the repetitions and sets, but you can also progress simply by working with more intensity on the execution time, therefore remaining in tension with the muscle for a longer period of time.

As a last exercise, to conclude the training schedule in style, a very simple push-up to failure: 3 sets with maximum repetitions. Obviously, at the end of the workout, so as to maximize the efforts made up to that point: in push-ups you work both the pectoral and the triceps, so it turns out andbe an ideal exercise to conclude a workout dedicated to these two muscle groups.

As announced in my previous post, I would like to include, in addition to my training, also the loads and rest times, and thus understand if they can be of some interest.

- bench press in rest pause with dumbells: 4x8+6: 1' rest, 17.5kg dumbells

- pull over in rest pause with dumbell: 4x8+8: 1' rest, 20kg dumbell

- back extension for triceps with cable machine in rest pause: 4x8+6: 1' rest, 12.5kg

- french press with dumbells in rest pause: 3x8+6: 1' rest, 6kg

- push ups: 3xMAX: 1' rest, 16-12-10

Obviously, after the workout, I did 10 minutes of soft stretching and foam rolling to loosen up well, both from the workout of the day, and from the morning bike ride and the workout of the day before... also because, how do you think I was supposed to get home after work?! BIG BIKE CLIMB!

Ciao a tutti Hivers!

Sono molto felice di notare che il lancio dei miei contenuti relativi agli allenamenti che faccio in palestra ha un discreto successo. Per questo motivo, anche oggi vorrei condividere con voi uno dei miei allenamenti e qualche pensiero riguardo al riguardo.

In particolare, quello di oggi è un video che ho realizzato del mio allenamento di petto e tricipiti, che solitamente è il secondo allenamento della settimana in palestra.

Questo che vi mostro nel mio video è l'allenamento che ho fatto martedì 25 marzo, dopo essere arrivata in bici in palestra... sì, ero già stanca, dopo quella salita pazzesca del Gianicolo!

Ma bando alle ciance: siccome avrei dovuto cominciare il mio turno a lavoro all'apertura della palestra, come ogni volta in questa occasione, sono andata molto presto. Alle 8 sono entrata, ho acceso le luci della palestra, mi sono cambiata e ho iniziato con la mia solita routine di riscaldamento: mobilità articolare e riscaldamento muscolare specifico.

Magari un giorno farò un contenuto dedicato esclusivamente al mio riscaldamento di mobilità: è una routine di cui non posso più fare a meno ed ho imparato, a mie spese, che è fondamentale per evitare di incorrere in infortuni, oltre che per arrivare alle serie principali dell'allenamento avendo articolazioni, tendini e legamenti caldi e protetti.

Quando inizio l'allenamento prima dell'apertura della palestra, incappo sempre nel team dei ragazzi delle pulizie, che verso le 8:30 entrano per pulire la palestra... ormai lo sanno che devono avere pazienza con me! Ma anche io con loro, soprattutto quando sto facendo le riprese per i miei video... ahahah

Potrà capitare, infatti, che notiate qualche movimento di una scopa o qualche altro oggetto per pulire che è stato lasciato in mezzo alla stanza mentre facevo gli esercizi, e inavvertitamente è finito nel frame. Oggetti di scena!

Nell'allenamento di petto e spalle di martedì ho cercato di focalizzarmi tantissimo sull'intensità: durante la settimana dopo il ciclo mestruale, le donne hanno una maggiore forza e resistenza, motivo per cui possono permettersi intensità maggiori e carichi più alti. Ho difatti provato ad aumentare quasi tutti i carichi di allenamento, senza, tuttavia, sporcare la tecnica... o perlomeno, ho tentato di eseguire nel miglior modo possibile tutti gli esercizi.

In particolare, nella panca piana con i manubri, il primo esercizio della scheda, per avere un maggior focus sul petto, ho cercato di inarcare quanto più possibile la schiena e addurre le scapole. Purtroppo ho una cicatrice fresca sotto la scapola sinistra, di un neo che mi è stato asportato: infatti ho spesso dolore quando mi sdraio e sto a contatto con la superficie della panca, ma immagino che faccia tutto parte del gioco.

Stessa accortezza dell'inarcamento della schiena ho provato ad averla durante l'esercizio del pull over: qui la situazione è nettametne più complessa in quanto è facile perdere il controllo del manubrio oltre la linea delle spalle ed incorrere quindi in infortuni anche gravi proprio alla spalla. Per questo motivio è uno di quegli esercizi che va fatti con assoluta attenzione ed accortezza nel movimento, senza esagerare nell'escursione articolare, il cosiddetto "range of motion".

Ultimati questi primi 2 esercizi in cui il pettorale è il protagonista, la mia scheda, fatta ad hoc su di me dal mio personal trainer, si sposta per focalizzarsi sui tricipiti, con un primo esercizio ai cavi, e un secondo esercizio sempre su panca piana.

In entrambi i casi, la cosa più difficile che mi riesce fare è mantenere un'intensità costante durante tutto il lavoro: il tricipite, a differenza del pettorale, è un musolo molto piccolo, con una resistenza minore. Vuol dire che molto velocemente il muscolo si "stanca", producendo un quantitativo di acido lattico che non permette di continuare con l'esecuzione dell'esercizio in maniera fluida. In poche parole, il muscolo va a cedimento rapidament e non si può più continuare.

Per questa ragione, rispetto agli esercizi per il pettorale, con i tricipiti sono quasi praticamente ferma allo stesso carico di lavoro da parecchio tempo. Chiaramente, quello che mi fa "sentire" il lavoro è soprattutto l'intensità intesa come tempo di tensione del muscolo, il cosidetto "time under tension": fondamentalmente, il carico può restare invariato, così come le ripetizioni e le serie, ma si può progredire anche semplicemente lavorando con più intensità sul tempo di esecuzione, quindi restando in tensione col muscolo per un maggior lasso di tempo.

Come ultimo esercizio, per concludere in bellezza la scheda di allenamento, un banalissimo piegamento sulle braccia a cedimento: 3 serie con il massimo delle ripetizioni. Ovviamente, a fine allenamento, così da massimizzare gli sforzi fatti fino a quel momento: nei piegamenti sulle braccia si lavora sia con il pettorale che con i tricipiti, quindi risulta essere un esercizio ideale a concludere un alleanmento dedicato a questi due gruppi muscolari.

Come preannunciato nel mio precedente post, vorrei includere, oltre che il mio allenamento, anche i carichi e i tempi di riposo, e capire così se possono essere di qualche interesse.

- pull over in rest pause with dumbell: 4x8+8: 1' rest, 20kg dumbell

- back extension for triceps with cable machine in rest pause: 4x8+6: 1' rest, 12,5kg

- french press with dumbells in rest pause: 3x8+6: 1' rest, 6kg

- push ups: 3xMAX: 1' rest, 16-12-10

Ovviamente, finito l'allenamento, ho fatto 10 minuti di stretching morbido e foam roll per sciogliermi bene, sia dall'allenamento del giorno, sia dalla bici della mattina e dall'allenamento del giorno prima... anche perché, come pensate sia dovuta tornare a casa dopo lavoro?! SALITONA IN BICI!

Welcome back Hivers, how is your week going? Spring seems to have finally arrived here in Rome, Italy, and my days are going great: no more cold, the days are getting longer and the sun is starting to warm up!

Fortunately my job allows me to have flexible hours, which is a great advantage for those who, like me, have a well-scheduled diet and training routine.

Today, in fact, I would like to share with you my second video taken from my training routine; in fact, I noticed that my first post on this subject was appreciated and, in general, I find it interesting to talk about different topics as well. Fitness, well-being, resistance training are a passion of mine that is shared by many people here on Hive, too, so I find it useful to bring out this side of me on my blog.

Today in particular I will show you my Monday training, from the programming of this mesocycle that I am about to conclude (this is the penultimate week of 8 in total).

My coach has included a diverse series of leg exercises that impact the entire lower kinetic chain, both anterior and posterior, starting from more complex and complete exercises, to be performed with great intensity.

As I am convinced that putting your mind to it makes the difference, I am even more sure that the right programming of workouts in a mesocycle and exercises in the single workout can lead to effective concrete and tangible results over time.

As I have already told you in my first post in this regard, every month, for years now, I take photos of myself from different angles, always the same ones, and take measurements of my body, to keep track of how we are working together with my coach.

For many it may seem like an obsession, but more than anything it is a way to leave nothing to chance: if you really care about your body, your well-being and the time you spend in the gym, why not also give the right weight to monitoring your results?

I believe that the way we experience things defines who we are and where we are going: for me, training is a priority, since training and proper nutrition define my well-being and longevity. Hence the absolute importance and centrality in my life: it should not be read as an illness or an obsession, but as what is dearest to me in my life... that is, myself! As the wise man says... "if you don't worry and take care of yourself, who will do it for you? No one." And that's exactly how it is!

No one likes to struggle and suffer, or almost. However, the fatigue and physical suffering of a workout translate into well-being almost instantly: thanks to the release of endorphins, dopamine and serotonin after a good workout performed with the right intensity, we will feel a general sense of immediate well-being.

When we accept that to have a quality life (regular sleep, regular menstrual cycle, elimination of smoking and alcohol, balanced diet) we must do physical activity and sports at a certain level, then there we will truly accept the physical pain caused by effort and fatigue, since these will distance us as much as possible, especially in terms of time, from the pain caused by the lack of well-being, among the most common being cardiovascular diseases.

After this great parenthesis, here is my Monday training program!

- super set x 4: hip thrust 8 reps + front squat 6 reps

- super set x 4: bulgarian squat 8 reps each leg + step up 8 reps each leg

- standing lungees: 4x8/leg

- hip thrust: 4x12

As I mentioned, this is my Monday leg workout. The program consists of 4 weight room workouts, however for a couple of weeks I have also included outdoor cardio, since I move by bike, doing a few km to reach the workplace, which is also where the gym is located. Those few km, however, are extremely tiring, because I live on the slopes of a hill, perhaps the most famous in Rome, so I have a climb to go and one to come back... since I have to climb over the Gianicolo to get to Trastevere. Crazy! I'll leave you today's Strava stats here, which are indicative of the average of the routes I'm now doing in my daily life.

- Outward journey: distance 3.84 km, elevation gain 45m, maximum altitude 42m

- Return journey: distance 3.62 km, elevation gain 86m, maximum altitude 63m

Of course, if I don't cycle, to complete my training (regardless of the muscle groups I work) I always include a high intensity cardio phase on a bike or a free body HIIT workout; twice a week I also include a final 10' circuit of high intensity core and abdominal exercises.

Ben ritrovati Hivers, come procede la settimana? La primavera sembra essere finalmente arrivata qui a Roma, in Italia, e le mie giornate procedono al meglio: niente più freddo, le giornate si allungano e il sole comincia a scaldare!

Fortunatamente il mio lavoro mi consente di avere orari flessibili, il che è un grande vantaggio per chi, come me, ha una routine di alimentazione ed allenamento ben scandita.

Oggi infatti vorrei condividere con voi il mio secondo video preso dalla mia routine di allenamento; ho infatti notato che il mio primo post a questo riguardo è stato apprezzato e, in generale, trovo interessante parlare anche di argomenti diversi. Il fitness, il benessere, gli allenamenti contro resistenza sono una mia passione che è condivisa da parecchie persone anche qui su Hive, per questo trovo utile tirare fuori anche questo lato di me sul mio blog.

Oggi in particolare vi mostro il mio allenamento del lunedì, della programmazione di questo mesociclo che sto per concludere (questa è la penultima settimana di 8 totali).

Il mio allenatore ha inserito una serie diversificata di esercizi di gambe che vanno ad impattare su tutta la catena cinetica inferiore, sia anteriore che posteriore, partendo da esercizi più complessi e completi, da eseguire con grande intensità.

Come sono convinta che metterci la testa faccia la differenza, sono ancora più sicura che la giusta programmazione degli allenamenti in un mesociclo e degli esercizi nel singolo allenamento, possa portare ad effettivi risultati concreti e tangibili nel corso del tempo.

Come vi ho già raccontato nel mio primo post a questo riguardo, ogni mese, ormai da anni, mi faccio le foto da diverse angolazioni, sempre le stesse, e prendo le misure del mio corpo, per tenere traccia di come stiamo lavorando insieme al mio allenatore.

Per molti può sembra un'ossessione, ma più che altro è un modo per non lasciare nulla al caso: se ci tieni davvero al tuo corpo, al tuo benessere e al tempo che spendi in palestra, perché non dare anche il giusto peso al monitoraggio dei risultati?

Credo che il modo in cui viviamo le cose definisce chi siamo e dove stiamo andando: per me allenarmi è una priorità, poiché l'allenamento e la corretta alimentazione definiscono il mio benessere e la mia longevità. Ne consegue quindi l'assoluta importanza e centralità nella mia vita: non deve essere letta come una malattia o un'ossessione, ma come ciò che di più caro ho nella mia vita... ovvero, me stessa! Come dice il saggio... "se non ti preoccupi e prendi cura tu di te stessa, chi lo farà al posto tuo? Nessuno." Ed è proprio così!

Faticare e soffrire non piace a nessuno, o quasi. Tuttavia, la fatica e la sofferenza fisica di un allenamento si traducono in benessere quasi istantaneamente: grazie al rilascio di endorfine, dopamina e serotonina dopo un buon allenamento eseguito con la giusta intensità, sentiremo in noi un generale senso di benessere immediato.

Quando accettiamo che per avere una vita di qualità (regolarità del sonno, regolarità del ciclo mestruale, eliminazione di fumo e alcol, equilibrio nell'alimentazione) dobbiamo fare attività fisica e sportiva ad un certo livello, allora lì accetteremo veramente il dolore fisico dato dallo sforzo e dalla fatica, poiché questi ci allontaneranno quanto più possibile, soprattutto in termini di tempo, dai dolori provocati dalla mancanza di benessere, tra le più comuni le malattie cardiovascolari.

Dopo questa grandissima parentesi, ecco a voi il programma del mio lunedì di allenamento!

Come vi ho menzionato, questo è il mio allenamento di gambe del lunedì. La programmazione si svolge su 4 allenamenti di sala pesi, tuttavia da un paio di settimane ho inserito anche il cardio all'aperto, poiché mi muovo in bici, facendo pochi km per raggiungere la postazione di lavoro, che poi è anche dove si trova la palestra. Quei pochi km però sono estremamenti faticosi, perché vivo sulle pendici di un colle, il più famoso di Roma forse, per cui ho una salita ad andare e una a tornare... visto che devo scavallare il Gianicolo per arrivare a Trastevere. Pazzesco! Vi lascio qui le statistiche di oggi di Strava, che sono indicative della media dei tragitti che sto facendo ormai nel quotidiano.

- Andata: distanza 3,84 km, dislivello 45m, massima altitudine 42m

- Ritorno: distanza 3,62 km, dislivello 86 m, massima altitudine 63m

Chiaramente, se non mi muovo in bici, a completare l'allenamento (a prescindere dai distretti muscolari che lavoro) inserisco sempre una fase di cardio su bike ad alta intensità oppure un lavoro HIIT a corpo libero; due volte a settimana inserisco anche un circuito finale di 10' di esercizi di core e addome ad alta intensità.

Hi Hivers! I hope you're all well. Today I'm sharing a slightly different content than usual, but because I'd like to talk about other passions of mine every now and then, in addition to photography and the trips I take.

Today, in fact, I'm posting a video montage I made of a workout I did this week.

In particular, this was the workout in the gym:

- deadlift in rest pause: 4x8+6

- incline dumbbell row in rest pause: 4x8+6

- reverse grip barbell row in rest pause: 4x8+6

- shaped barbell curl in super set with dumbbell hammer curl: 4x8 and 6+6

This workout is part of a weightlifting workout plan that was made for the 8-week mesocycle that I'm about to finish in this period.

I have been followed by a professional trainer for about 3 years who prepares customized training plans for me and helps me have a balanced diet, suggesting the macronutrients to eat daily.

In addition, to have a complete picture, I have a daily diary to fill out, in which I write a few but essential factors to keep under control to have a healthy and balanced life: hours and quality of sleep, body weight, amount of water drunk, any physical activity performed and noteworthy elements of the day. At the end of the month, after the end of the menstrual cycle, I take measurements with a tape measure of arms, legs, hips, chest and waist, and send everything to my coach, who takes all the data, together with those of my diary, and together with pictures of my body shape, in order to understand where to adjust the shot, how to improve the training plan or whether to change something in my routine. I am no longer a competitive athlete, I don't need all this to win a race: I do it for myself, to feel good, to live longer, healthier and fitter.

I must say that all this is now part of my routine: weighing myself every day, counting the liters of water I drink, preparing meals by weighing the various foods... but I understand that for most people, all this may seem crazy.

However, I feel good now: I am sure that the day will come when I will stop weighing food and go by instinct, by intuition. But all these habits, built up over the years, are making me know and understand my body more and more every day, which is very important for living well and for a long time, avoiding injuries, illnesses and therefore doing health prevention.

I was a competitive swimmer for almost 20 years: I lived a life of sacrifices, of getting up early and of psychophysical stress. My life now has a completely different flavor: I train because I want to, I am followed in every detail to live well every day, and not to win a race.

I miss the life of an athlete every now and then, but then I realize that, today, I would not be able to manage it, neither mentally nor psychologically.

Maybe there will come a day when I will start competing and putting myself to the test again, but I will have to do it with a more serene and less competitive mentality, precisely to live the sporting experience to the fullest. Which must always be enjoyable and never stressful, because at the end of the day, sport is about this: well-being.

I hope you enjoyed this hidden side of me. If I see that this topic is appreciated, I may decide to talk more often about my workouts and the fitness routine I have. Ciao a tutti Hivers! Spero che stiate bene. Oggi vi condivido un contenuto un po' diverso dal solito, ma perché mi piacerebbe parlare anche ogni tanto di altre mie passioni, oltre che della fotografia e dei viaggi che faccio.

Oggi, infatti, sto postando un montaggio video che ho fatto di un allenamento che ho fatto questa settimana.

In particolare, questo è stato l'allenamento in palestra:

- stacco in rest pause: 4x8+6

- rematore con manubri su panca inclinata in rest pause: 4x8+6

- rematore bilanciere presa inversa in rest pause: 4x8+6

- curl con bilanciere sagomato in super set con curl manubri a martello: 4x8 e 6+6

Questo allenamento fa parte di una scheda di allenamenti di sala pesi che mi è stata fatta per il mesociclo di 8 settimane che sto per ultimare in questo periodo.

Sono circa 3 anni che sono seguita da un professionista che mi prepara schede di allenamento su misura e mi aiuta ad avere un'alimentazione equilibrata, suggerendomi i macronutrienti da mangiare giornalmente.

Inoltre, per avere un quadro completo, ho un diario giornaliero da compilare, in cui scrivo pochi ma essenziali fattori da tenere sotto controllo per avere una vita sana ed equilibrata: ore e qualità del sonno, peso corporeo, quantità di acqua bevuta, eventuale attività fisica svolta ed elementi degni di nota della giornata. A fine mese, dopo la fine del ciclo mestruale, prendo le misure con un metro da sarta di braccia, gambe, fianchi, petto e vita, ed invio tutto al mio allenatore, che prende tutti i dati, insieme anche a quelli del mio diario, e alle foto che mi faccio ogni mese del mio body shape, per capire dove aggiustare il tiro, come migliorare la scheda di allenamento o se modificare qualcosa nella mia routine. Non sono più un'atleta agonista, tutto questo non mi serve per vincere una gara: lo faccio per me stessa, per sentirmi bene, per vivere più a lungo, in salute ed in forma.

Devo dire che ormai tutto ciò rientra nella mia routine: pesarmi ogni giorno, contare i litri di acqua che bevo, prepararmi i pasti pesando i vari alimenti... ma capisco che per la maggior parte delle persone, tutto ciò può sembrare follia.

Tuttavia, ormai mi sento bene: sono certa che arriverà il giorno in cui smetterò di pesare gli alimenti e andrò a braccio, ad intuito. Ma tutte queste abitudini, costruite in anni, mi stanno facendo conoscere e capire ogni giorno di più il mio corpo, cosa improtantissima per vivere bene e a lungo, scongiurando infortuni, malattie e quindi facendo prevenzione sanitaria.

Sono stata atleta agonista di nuoto per quasi 20 anni: ho fatto una vita di sacrifici, di alzatacce e di stress psicofisico. La mia vita ora ha tutto un altro sapore: mi alleno perché voglio farlo, sono seguita in ogni dettaglio per vivere bene ogni giorno, e non per vincere una gara.

La vita dell'atleta ogni tanto mi manca, ma poi mi rendo conto che, ad oggi, non sarei in grado di gestirla, né mentalmente né psicologicamente.

Arriverà forse un giorno in cui ricomincerò a gareggiare e a mettermi in gioco, ma dovrò farlo con una mentalità più serena e meno competitiva, proprio per vivere al meglio l'esperienza sportiva. Che deve sempre essere di piacere e mai di stress, perché in fin dei conti lo sport sere a questo: al benessere.

Spero che questo lato nascosto di me vi sia piaciuto. Se vedo che questo argomento viene apprezzato, potrò decidere di parlare più spesso anche dei miei allenamenti e della routine di fitness che ho. Per il momento, in maniera molto superficiale, ho condiviso questi argomenti solo sul mio account Instagram, ma trovo più interessante farlo qui, se l'interesse è reciproco.

Welcome back, people of Hive!

Although it's been a while now, today I want to tell you about my special New Year's Eve, spent in the snow and laughing with friends. I had never spent New Year's Eve in the mountains, so it was a new and magical experience for me!

We were in Rivisondoli, near Roccaraso, in Abruzzo Region, guests in the house of the girlfriend of one of my partner's best friends, together with her boyfriend and another couple of friends. A small group, but the atmosphere was perfect: relaxed, fun and full of joy! Here's Rivisondoli's exact location: [//]:# (!worldmappin 41.87014 lat 14.06600 long d3scr)

We didn't ski or do any winter sports, but we took advantage of the snow to enjoy some beautiful walks. One of the most beautiful experiences was exploring Rivisondoli, the characteristic village where we were staying. The sunset we saw there was simply breathtaking, with the sky tinged with a thousand warm shades while the snow reflected the last rays of the sun.

Of course, there was a snowball fight! It was a moment of pure lightheartedness, with laughter and frozen hands. Then we took refuge in the residence's hobby room to warm up a bit and have fun with a few games of ping pong. I'm certainly not a champion, but the important thing was to laugh and have a good time together!

New Year's Eve was simple but enjoyable: we prepared the dinner together, with toasts, delicious dishes and lots of chatting. The party was a perfect mix of good food, a few drinks, jokes and laughter. And at the stroke of midnight we went out onto the balcony to admire the fireworks that lit up the sky. Too bad it was incredibly cold!

I shot a few short videos to try to capture at least a little of the atmosphere of those two unforgettable days. It was a simple New Year's Eve, without big parties or discos, but for this very reason perfect: the right company, the warmth of friendship and the magic of the snow.

I hope that from this little montage of mine, you can capture the sensations of those two days of relaxation and good company. Soon, I will try to post also the pictures that I took with the very same camera.

Bentrovati, popolo di Hive!

Benché sia passato ormai un bel po', oggi voglio raccontarvi del mio Capodanno speciale, passato tra la neve e le risate in compagnia di amici. Non avevo mai trascorso l’ultimo dell’anno in montagna, quindi è stata un’esperienza nuova e magica per me!

Siamo stati a Rivisondoli, vicino Roccaraso, in Abruzzo, ospiti nella casa della ragazza di uno dei migliori amici del mio compagno, insieme al suo ragazzo e a un’altra coppia di amici. Non abbiamo sciato né fatto sport invernali, ma abbiamo approfittato della neve per goderci delle belle passeggiate. Una delle esperienze più belle è stata esplorare Rivisondoli, il caratteristico paesino dove alloggiavamo. Il tramonto che abbiamo visto lì è stato semplicemente mozzafiato, con il cielo che si tingeva di mille sfumature calde mentre la neve rifletteva gli ultimi raggi di sole.

Ovviamente non poteva mancare qualche battaglia a suon di palle di neve! È stato un momento di pura spensieratezza, tra risate e mani congelate. Poi ci siamo rifugiati nella sala hobby del residence per scaldarci un po’ e divertirci con qualche partita a ping pong. Non sono certo una campionessa, ma l’importante era ridere e stare bene insieme!

La serata di Capodanno è stata semplice ma godereccia: abbiamo preparato insieme il cenone, tra brindisi, piatti deliziosi e tante chiacchiere. Il veglione è stato un mix perfetto di buon cibo, qualche drink, scherzi e risate. E allo scoccare della mezzanotte siamo usciti sul balcone per ammirare i fuochi d’artificio che illuminavano il cielo. Peccato solo per il freddo pazzesco!

Ho girato qualche breve video per cercare di catturare almeno un po’ dell’atmosfera di quei due giorni indimenticabili. È stato un Capodanno semplice, senza grandi feste o discoteche, ma proprio per questo perfetto: la compagnia giusta, il calore dell’amicizia e la magia della neve.

Spero che da questo mio piccolo montaggio, riusciate a cogliere le sensazioni di quei due giorni di rilassatezza e buona compagnia. Prossimamente cercherò di pubblicare anche le foto che ho scattato con la stessa macchina fotografica.

A video to complete the journey!

While last week I shared a full post about the adventures of my motorbike trip to Isola d'Elba two years ago, today I'd like to share with you all a short video I put together of the few clips I took with my phone during the trip. Unfortunately, I found out I only recorded a sunrise, my boyfriend's swimming in a wonderful natural pool at Spiagga della Crocetta, and the way up to the Capanne Mount, the peak of the island, the only spot from which it is possible to have an overall view of the entire island. I tried to put together all these few clips I had to create a cool-vibes short video, that I really hope you all will enjoy. The soundrack music that I chose is "IO (This Time Around)" from one of my favorite films ever, "Elizabethtown". While I was editing the video, I put on the CD of the movie's soundtrack on the stereo, and I thought this song would set the mood of the video perfectly.

Today, I finally had the chance to review the footage I shot in Venice last New Year’s. And yes, not this year’s, but one year ago.

Unfortunately, I always set aside my personal interests to prioritize work and the duties of daily life above everything else.

By doing so, though, I always end up with tons of content—photos and videos from my trips—that never see the light of day. And that’s such a shame.

This time, I managed, with a little over a year of delay, to carve out some time for myself... ironically, on a day when I’m home sick!

Better than nothing.

Venice was a city I loved, despite the cold, the crowds, and the fog: go visit it! The art, the beauty, and its uniqueness will make you forget everything else.

Experiencing the city during the Christmas holidays and New Year’s Eve was even more magical: the streets are festively decorated, and you can feel an air of tender joy.

It’s a magical place I’d happily return to as a tourist, but not to live there!

Oggi ho finalmente avuto modo di rivedere le mie riprese fatte a Venezia, a capodanno dell'anno scorso. E bene sì, non di quest'anno, ma di un anno fa.

Purtroppo lascio sempre da parte i miei interessi per mettere il lavoro e i doveri della vita quotidiana prima di tutto quanto.

In questo modo però, finisco sempre con l'avere tantissimi contenuti, foto e video dei miei viaggi, che non vedono la luce. Ed è un vero peccato.

Questa volta sono riuscita con poco più di un anno di ritardo, a ritagliarmi del tempo per me... guarda caso, in un giorno in cui sono a casa per malattia!

Meglio di niente.

Venezia è stata una città che ho amato, nonostante il freddo, le folle e la nebbia: andateci! L'arte, la bellezza, la sua unicità vi faranno dimenticare di tutto il resto.

Vivere la città durante il periodo delle feste di Natale e il Capodanno è stato ancora più magico: le strade sono addobbate a festa e si respira un'aria di tenera gioia.

Un posto magico in cui tornerei volentieri da turista, ma non per viverci!
