Practical Magic 2 has finally ended the incredible number-one run of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Guy T. Wehman, Allison Rose, and Stephen Leibowitz open this week's FlickRadio with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman's long-awaited sequel taking first place with a $30 million domestic weekend and approximately $56 million worldwide.

Stephen gets to play the tape after correctly predicting last week that Practical Magic 2 would take the top spot. The team discusses the drawing power of Bullock and Kidman, the sequel's reported $75 million budget, and whether its opening will translate into a profitable theatrical run.

Don't shed too many tears for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. After dominating the box office for weeks, the superhero blockbuster has reached approximately $2.5 billion worldwide. The Odyssey also remains remarkably strong, holding third place despite playing in fewer than 2,000 theaters.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day remains unstoppable. Guy T. Wehman, Allison Rose, and Stephen Leibowitz open this week's FlickRadio with Spider-Man holding the number-one spot for an incredible sixth consecutive week and closing in on $2.5 billion worldwide.

The summer's other major hits aren't disappearing either. The Odyssey moves back into second place with approximately $1.6 billion worldwide, while Coyote vs. Acme drops to third but continues benefiting from strong word of mouth and nostalgia. The team also discusses Buddy, which accomplished the unusual feat of making more money during its second weekend than its opening weekend, another example of how horror can build an audience through positive buzz.

The big question is whether Spider-Man can survive another weekend at number one. Allison and Stephen disagree on the answer as Practical Magic 2 arrives in theaters. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return, and Allison finds that their chemistry and camaraderie still provide the sequel with plenty of magic. She doesn't think it matches the original, but fans who know and love the first film should enjoy returning to this world. Spider-Man: Brand New Day refuses to give up the top spot. Guy T. Wehman, Allison Rose, and Stephen Leibowitz open this Labor Day weekend edition of FlickRadio with Spider-Man sitting at number one for the fifth consecutive week, while Coyote vs. Acme finally reaches theaters and lands an impressive number-two debut.

The team looks at why word of mouth could give Coyote vs. Acme staying power, especially after the film spent years in limbo before Ketchup Entertainment brought it to audiences. Stephen and Allison discuss the movie’s nostalgic appeal, its $15.9 million domestic opening, and why audiences who grew up with Wile E. Coyote and the Acme Corporation are turning out for it.

The news is much worse for The Dog Stars. Despite a reported $70 million budget and a wide release, the film struggles to connect with audiences. Allison again praises its visuals but calls the story disappointing, while the group compares its performance with the much smaller horror release Buddy, which is already profitable thanks to a budget under $3 million.
