Flight Plan

Marlins' prospect Jazz Chisholm joins the show!  Lu, Todd and Jazz reminisce about growing up playing ball in the Bahamas including their 12U Babe Ruth World Series Championship in 2010.  With Jazz in the Marlins' 60-man player pool and Lu in the Rays', the race to become the 7th player from the Bahamas to reach the big leagues is on.  The guys discuss what it will mean to get there and how they're handling all of the COVID-19 protocols to stay healthy.

The PVO Pod is taking a break from its usual light hearted tone this week.  Todd, Lu and Tim are joined by Indians prospect and 2016 first-round pick Will Benson.  Will grew up in Atlanta and has known racism his entire life.  Todd and Lu grew up in the Bahamas and didn't experience it until moving to the United States for high school.  They react to the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor.  Then the guys go deeper into the systemic racism plaguing the country and what we can all do to start to fix it.

The guys welcome Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton to the show.  He shares the story of his journey from a small town in Texas to the NFL.  He explains why he has big expectations for a loaded Broncos offense in 2020, how NFL players are dealing with the COVID-19 shutdown and his love of baseball.

Lewis Brinson brings his Don't Blink HR Derby trophy with him to the podcast.  Todd and Lu explain what LB has meant to them as a mentor since their high school days in Florida.  LB then takes the crew through his big league debut, the trade that sent him home and the pressures of living up to expectations.

The PVO Pod returns after an extended break.  Todd, Lu and Tim share stories of how they're coping with COVID-10 in Miami, The Bahamas and New York City.  Todd and Lu were at Spring Training when the sports world stopped.  They had to make quick decisions with very little information.  Now that they're away from baseball, how are they staying in shape?

The guys also look back on simpler times, recapping the Don't Blink Home Run Derby that took place this winter in The Bahamas.  Who stepped up, who came up short and who won the team competition?

The PVO Pod welcomes its first guest as Blue Jays prospect Chavez Young joins the show (3:00).  Todd, Lucius and Chavez reflect on Hurricane Dorian’s impact on the Bahamas and what’s being done to rebuild (9:50).  The third annual Don’t Blink HR Derby will go on as planned on the islands this winter and the guys give an update on plans (22:01).  The MLB Postseason is in full swing and the PVO crew gives predictions (29:00) before finishing up the episode with a check in on pop culture (46:20).

Recorded before Dorian hit their native Bahamas, Lucius Fox and Todd Isaacs join Tim McMaster to catch us up on their seasons including triple-A promotions (11:55).  The guys also discuss the surprise retirement of Andrew Luck (4:15), the ugly uniforms of Players Weekend (20:52) and the second best home run derby in the world (26:10).  As always, we finish up with Lu and Todd keeping Tim up to date on pop culture (35:30).

Tim McMaster is joined by Rays prospect Lucius Fox and Rockies prospect Todd Isaacs to discuss Tim Anderson bat flips and baseball's unwritten rules (1:00).  The guys also check in on the NBA Playoffs (10:50), take listener questions (19:05) and talk role models on Mother's Day (24:30).  As always, Todd and Lucius end the pod by giving Tim some new music to check out and teach him a little Bahamian lingo (32:25).

Welcome to the first episode of the Paradise Vibes Only Podcast.  Consider this the origin story as we meet Todd Isaacs and Lucius Fox, learn about their friendship and climb through the minor leagues.  The guys also talk about Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki's retirments (13:00), Tiger Woods' win at the Masters (15:30), Nipsey Hussle's tragic murder (20:20) and of course they sprinkle in some Bahamian flavor.
