Hey guys, welcome back to the Flipped Lifestyle podcast. It’s good to be back with you again this week. I’m Shane. Jocelyn is sitting right beside me as always.

SHANE: And we finally have our new office put together so we actually are working at our new desks and the room is even clean. So it’s just kind of a turning point in our online business where we actually have a space to work at.

This is Our First "Flipped Podcast!"

Wait... what is a "flipped podcast?"

Like you, we listen to a lot of internet marketing podcasts.  But after a while, most of them sound the same.

You know the drill: Bring on a "guru." Guru and host talk about how awesome they are for 20 minutes.  Guru then talks about high level marketing tactics for millionaires that are often theory or way over the beginner's head.  (Not all podcasts are like this, but more and more are.)

How does that kind of show help families starting out?  How does advice from a 25 year old single dude living in Costa Rica help a normal family start an online business while working full time and raising kids?  Um... It usually doesn't!

BUT, what if that normal family could get on the podcast with the expert? What if that normal family could ask REAL questions, and get REAL answers about starting an online business or taking their business to the next level?  And what if we could all listen in?  Now that is a show I want to listen to!

What’s up guys? Welcome back to the Flipped Lifestyle. We’ve had a lot of people emailing us lately asking about the process of starting a blog, like, what do you focus on, what should you be looking at, and what are the things you really need to worry about, like there’s so much information about keyword research and all the components you need to include in your blog that we thought this would be a great opportunity to address a lot of those questions in our podcast so we can really get these answers out to everybody at once and not just focus these answers on a few people because, you know, it’s like when you ask a question, everybody else in the room probably has the same question.

So we’re kind of going to do that today and this is not going to be your normal “How to Start a Blog in 10 minutes” type podcast. We’re not here to show you how to install WordPress and at no time am I going to be like, “Go click on this awesome hosting company affiliate link. Go do this so you can give us $50.” I’m not going to do that. This is not that kind of show and there are people out there that have done that and they do it very well. So if you’re looking for something on how to install WordPress or something like that, this is not what we’re doing.

Our goal is to show you how to set up a minimum viable blog. Now you’ve probably heard the term “minimum viable product.” You know, you get a product in its most basic form and get it to the market and then improve it. We’re going to kind of take that and flip it on its head and talk about a minimum viable blog in this podcast and show you the exact things you really need to focus on, the important things, kind of cut through the fluff and get your blog up and running, and do it quickly and efficiently.

SHANE: We just want to throw out a quick disclaimer before we get started here. If you hear a little noise in the background, that’s our dryer. We’re doing laundry right now. Our laundry room is right beside the office space that we use. Jocelyn has to be at Isaac’s school here in an hour or so, so she had to dry some clothes. The dryer is rolling.

SHANE: That is an awesome user name.

JOCELYN: It says, “I love this couple’s podcast because they throw out realistic numbers when it comes to making extra income online. They emphasize taking action and giving practical advice on how to get started right away. The podcast is fun and refreshing. Shane and Jocelyn come across as genuinely sincere and you can tell they are the perfect foil for one another.”

SHANE: For my British audience, foil I guess is where they came from. I don’t know.

JOCELYN: I really like that. It’s really true. I mean, we are sort of very opposite in a good way.
