Flipside Christian Church

In this powerful message marking the 20th anniversary of Flipside Church, Pastor Karl delivers a profound and challenging sermon on what it means to live as a "doulos" — a slave of Jesus Christ. Drawing from the biblical concept of servitude, he unpacks the seven core values that define the church’s mission and guide its members as they seek to turn the world upside down for God’s Kingdom. These values — irrefutable love, irresistible grace, illogical faith, the invisible kingdom, infallible scriptures, irrational generosity, and incessant reproduction — call believers to a radical, obedient life rooted in Christ’s commands. Pastor Karl emphasizes that as slaves of Christ, we surrender our agendas to adopt His values, living with unwavering love, grace, and faith to expand His eternal Kingdom. Join us as we reflect on two decades of God’s faithfulness and prepare to celebrate Flipside Church’s 20-year legacy next Sunday.

Reflecting on a life fully devoted to Christ, Paul charges Timothy—and all believers—to guard sound doctrine and guide others to it, even in a world that increasingly rejects truth. Pastor Karl unpacks Paul’s call to "preach the word" with urgency, reprove and correct with patience, and do the work of an evangelist, sharing the good news of Jesus. He emphasizes living with no reserve, no retreat, and no regret, fighting the good fight, finishing the race, and keeping the faith. Through vivid imagery and personal anecdotes, Pastor Karl challenges listeners to embrace their God-given purpose, forgive as Christ forgave, and live a life that counts for the Kingdom, no matter the cost.

In this powerful sermon, Pastor Karl draws a vivid parallel between the Revolutionary War’s militiamen and minutemen and the life of a Christ follower, urging us to live as dedicated “minutemen” of faith. Reflecting on his recent trip to Boston, Karl connects the historic battles of Lexington and Concord to the call in 2 Timothy 2 to be strong in God’s grace, not our own strength. He challenges us to flee from what dishonors God and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with unwavering commitment. Using Paul’s metaphors of a soldier, athlete, and farmer, Karl emphasizes enduring suffering, staying focused on God’s mission, and avoiding distractions that entangle us. This message inspires us to embody authentic faith, rely on God’s unmerited favor, and live purposefully for Christ’s kingdom, ensuring our lives align with His calling.
