Sunday after the Flood

The sermon teaches that whenever God accomplishes His purposes in the world, He graciously prepares and uses faithful servants according to His sovereign plan. Noah is presented as a righteous, blameless man who walked with God, demonstrating the character God delights to use even in the midst of a world consumed by corruption and violence. The sermon identifies five recurring principles of God's calling: God establishes the qualifications of those He uses, places them in seemingly impossible circumstances, clearly assigns their task, faithfully equips them with everything needed to accomplish it, and calls for wholehearted obedience in response. Noah's construction of the ark illustrates that God's people are often asked to trust His Word without seeing the finished outcome, laboring faithfully for years while relying on His provision and promises. The message culminates by showing that Noah ultimately points to Jesus Christ, the perfectly qualified and obedient Son of God who fulfilled the Father's mission completely and now calls, equips, and empowers His redeemed people to serve Him faithfully in whatever task He assigns, trusting that His grace is sufficient for every calling.

What is the story of Noah and the Ark really about? Here we see a World Condemned, a Sanctuary Constructed, a Promise Confirmed, and a People Collected, as the Noah and the Ark pictures the salvation that we have in Christ in the New Covenant, and the church as the body of Christ which is our refuge in the midst of a world under the judgment of God.

Lamech witnessed the death of the first man and woman and the increasing wickedness as a result of the Fall. As Noah was born, he prophesied of the "rest" from the curse which would come through Noah.
