Florida Weather 3/8 Midday - 53° Above Normal

Listen Later

Good afternoon. Florida. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Step outside right now and you'll feel it — we're running hot. Like, 53 degrees above normal hot. Coastal areas are pushing low 80s, while inland spots climb to the upper 80s. Some places are flirting with record territory today.
South Florida gets the calm version of this warmth. Sunny skies, 80 degrees, with east winds around 12 miles an hour keeping things comfortable. Tonight drops to 74 under mostly clear skies.
Central Florida heats up more — 86 degrees this afternoon. But here's where it gets interesting. Scattered showers and thunderstorms fire up between 2 P.M. and 1 A.M., peaking around 7 P.M. A few could pack gusty winds and frequent lightning. Rainfall stays light — less than a tenth of an inch for most. Tonight cools to 66 with patchy fog possible before sunrise.
North Florida sees the real action. Highs reach 85, but between 3 P.M. and 8 P.M., expect 80 percent storm coverage. Some could bring gusty winds to 50 miles an hour, small hail. And heavy downpours. Rainfall totals a quarter to half inch. Winds shift from south to southwest around 5 P.M., gusting to 15 miles an hour. Lows drop to 66 overnight.
Tampa Bay stays mostly dry — 85 degrees with just a slight chance of showers between 3 P.M. and 5 P.M. Tonight falls to 66.
Monday stays warm and mostly dry. Tuesday and Wednesday continue the heat — some inland spots could hit 90, challenging records. Thursday brings a cold front with scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds. Behind it, temperatures finally drop closer to normal Friday and Saturday, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
See you this evening.
