Florida, we're waking up to a serious weather setup today. A warm front is lifting north, pulling in deep tropical moisture from the Caribbean and the Gulf. This isn't just your typical afternoon shower โ Here comes widespread storm potential through Sunday.
Temperature-wise. For your Saturday night, expect mostly cloudy skies statewide. Down in South Florida, you'll see showers and thunderstorms with a low around 74 degrees. Southeast winds stay light at 6 to 9 miles an hour. Across Central Florida and the Tampa Bay area, look for partly cloudy skies and patchy fog developing late. Lows drop to the mid-60s there. Up north in Jacksonville, skies remain mostly cloudy with a mild low near 63 degrees.
Sunday brings a dramatic increase in storm coverage, highs climb into the mid-80s across Central Florida and Tampa Bay. In Orlando and surrounding areas, storms become likely late in the day, with the best chance for heavy rain right around 6 P.M. South Florida sees a high near 80 with storms likely in the morning and again in the afternoon. Jacksonville stays warm at 84 degrees with a slight chance of storms late.
Moving on. Monday is a transition day. A strong cold front sweeps across the Panhandle and down the peninsula, bringing a line of potentially strong to severe storms. Gusty winds up to 50 miles an hour and isolated tornadoes are possible. You'll want to pay attention to the weather if you've outdoor plans, behind the front, winter makes a comeback. North Florida wakes up to lows in the 40s on Tuesday, with highs struggling to reach the upper 50s. Central Florida feels the chill too, with lows in the upper 40s. The cool air lingers through mid-week before we warm up again next weekend.
