Story Transcript:
En: Maarja stood at the window and looked out towards the gray, cold city.
Et: Talv oli jõudnud haripunkti.
En: Winter had reached its peak.
En: The trees were bare, the houses quiet, and the streets deserted.
En: Maarja was worried, but she knew she had to be strong for her classmates.
En: "Now we have to move," said Maarja, turning to Taavi and Karli.
Et: Nad ootasid, igaüks oma muremõtetes.
En: They were waiting, each lost in their own thoughts.
En: His concern was always about resources, while Maarja worried about safety.
En: Karli, young and full of hope, asked, "Will we reach the new school today?"
En: Maarja smiled slightly and replied, "Yes, Karli.
Et: See kindlus aitab meid."
En: This fortress will help us."
En: The decision to move their modest school to a new, protected place had been on Maarja's mind for weeks.
En: The old fortress at the edge of the city seemed the only option—strong and secure, just as Maarja wished her group to be.
En: They gathered their few belongings and set out.
En: Maarja led the way, keeping herself and others vigilant.
En: On the way to the fortress, there were many dangers: abandoned cars, houses at risk of collapsing, and wild animals.
En: The worst, however, were the marauder groups roaming about, seeking prey.
Et: Lähenedes kindlustele, kuulsid nad kedagi lähenemas.
En: As they approached the fortress, they heard someone approaching.
Et: Maarja katsus oma südame lööke aeglustada.
En: Maarja tried to slow her heartbeat.
Et: "Varju!"
En: "Hide!"
Et: käskis ta vaikse häälega.
En: she commanded in a quiet voice.
Et: Nad pugesid rusuhunnikute taha, hoides hingamist kinni.
En: They hid behind piles of rubble, holding their breath.
En: The marauders were close, three dark figures moving silently.
En: She signaled to Taavi, who understood immediately.
Et: Taavi suutis alati improviseerida.
En: Taavi could always improvise.
En: He found a stone and carefully threw it away.
Et: Kivi maandus mürtsuga, meelitades marodöörid vastassuunas.
En: The stone landed with a thud, luring the marauders in the opposite direction.
En: Once the dangers had passed, everyone sighed with relief.
Et: "Hea töö, Maarja," sosistas Taavi.
En: "Good job, Maarja," whispered Taavi.
Et: Nad jõudsid kindluseni, varjudes madala taeva all läbi lund ja tuult.
En: They reached the fortress, slipping beneath the low sky through snow and wind.
En: The fortress was large and imposing, its old stone walls standing strong against time and weather.
En: Entering, they felt as if they had found strength and shelter.
Et: Maarja vaatas oma sõpradele silma.
En: Maarja looked her friends in the eyes.
En: "We're here," she said, and everyone smiled.
En: They were alive, and now they had a new starting point.
Et: Koos hakkasid nad kindlust kooliks muutma, kaasates isegi Karli väikeseid ideid.
En: Together, they began turning the fortress into a school, even incorporating Karli's small ideas.
Et: Maarja mõistis, et igaühe panus on oluline.
En: Maarja realized that everyone's contribution was important.
Et: Nüüd, kindluses, tundis Maarja end tõelise juhina.
En: Now, in the fortress, Maarja felt like a true leader.
En: She knew caution was important, but she also learned that hope and collaboration would lead to success in the future.
En: Thus, they began together, keeping the school and hope alive.
