I fell in love with Susan Palwick's writing when I stumbled across a reprint of her story The Fate of Mice. Her other short fiction did not disappoint. Now I know her novels are fantastic, too. This was intense and riveting.
Dissociation
Flying in Place is the only, only , only book I've ever read which accurately describes what dissociation looks and feels like.
And it's her first novel! Palwick's a genius!
Poignant, Uplifting Story
This book was recommended by my therapist. It is a deeply touching, well-written story that is easy to read and provides insight into the deepest thoughts of the main character, Emma, a victim of incest, and how she deals with and untimately overcomes her abuse. I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Haunting
I couldn't put this book down. If incest makes you nervous don't read it but it was so intriguing. I read it in one afternoon.
Amazing book!
This is a very well written, good book. It really teaches about the emotional and psychological damage sexual abuse can cause. It helped me write a paper about suffering. I recommend that everyone read this sometime in their life.
