๐๏ธ EPISODE 8: ACROSS BORDERS, WITH GRATITUDE ๐๐
A Special Thank You to Our FND Warriors & Advocates | USA Youth Edition
Sometimes, the most extraordinary people enter our lives not because we live nearby, but because we share a common understanding, a determination to make a difference and a belief that nobody living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) should feel alone.
In this very special episode of FND Doesn't Define Me โ My Life, My Rules!, Paul Edwards from the West Midlands, England, and Jennifer Kerr from Scotland take a moment to say something that truly matters.
THANK YOU. โค๏ธ
This episode is dedicated to four remarkable women who live with FND themselves and continue to bring encouragement, friendship, positivity and awareness to the international FND community.
๐ Pam O'Malley โ Greenock, Scotland
An FND warrior and advocate whose friendship, kindness and unwavering support have brought positivity into our lives. Pam has been a source of encouragement through difficult times, reminding us of the importance of compassion, understanding and genuine friendship.
๐ Jenn โ Ohio, USA
An extraordinary FND warrior and advocate whose dedication extends far beyond the United States. Jenn continues to support our work while helping raise awareness, strengthen international connections and demonstrate that advocacy truly has no borders.
๐ Brandy Tipton โ Texas, USA
An inspiring FND warrior and advocate who continues to support awareness efforts. Brandy was among the first people to promote Paul's original FND community song, FND IS REAL, helping its message reach others who understand the realities of living with this condition.
๐ Roxie โ RISE: FND Warrior Support, USAย
A dedicated FND warrior and advocate whose commitment to raising awareness, sharing resources and supporting the FND community deserves recognition. Roxie's determination and advocacy continue to contribute to greater understanding and connection.
๐ FOUR WOMEN. DIFFERENT PLACES. ONE SHARED PURPOSE.
Although separated by miles and international borders, these remarkable individuals demonstrate that kindness, friendship and advocacy can bring people together.
This episode is also a message to every child, teenager and young adult living with FND:
You matter. Your experiences matter. You deserve friendship, understanding and opportunities to enjoy life.
You don't need to become an advocate or achieve something extraordinary to make a difference. Sometimes, simply listening, showing kindness or being there for someone can mean the world.

Created for children, teenagers and young adults across the United States, with a warm welcome to families, carers, healthcare professionals and FND supporters worldwide.
To Pam, Jenn, Brandy and Roxie: thank you for your friendship, your encouragement and everything you continue to do for the FND community. This episode is dedicated to you.

๐๏ธ EPISODE 6: A DAY OFF FROM BEING SERIOUS! ๐
FND Doesn't Define Me โ My Life, My Rules! | USA Youth Edition
Who says living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) means every conversation has to be serious?
Not us! ๐
Join Paul Edwards from the West Midlands, England, and Jennifer Kerr from Scotland for a cheerful, lighthearted episode celebrating music, laughter, friendships, hobbies and the simple pleasures of being young.
This week, we're leaving the complicated medical terminology behind and having a little fun!
๐ถ UB40 versus The Smiths! Paul loves UB40, Jennifer loves The Smiths, and apparently their musical differences might require an international peace agreement!
๐ Expect friendly teasing, plenty of humour and two presenters who definitely don't agree on everything!
๐จ Discover why hobbies, creativity, friendships and finding time to relax can be just as meaningful as achieving something extraordinary.
๐ Our message to young people living with FND:
You are more than your symptoms, appointments or diagnosis. You deserve opportunities to laugh, enjoy your interests, spend time with friends and simply be yourself.
Some days, fun might mean going out. Other days, it could mean drawing, listening to music, watching a film or chatting with someone who understands.
And on difficult days, you don't have to pretend everything is wonderful.
This episode isn't about pretending FND doesn't exist. It's about remembering that life contains so much more than a diagnosis.
๐ Created especially for children, teenagers and young adults across the United States, with a warm welcome to families, carers, friends and supporters everywhere.

From a hospital bed to international publishing. One man's journey, one unexpected future, and a message of hope for the next generation.
Welcome to a very special solo episode of FND Doesn't Define Me โ My Life, My Rules! | USA Youth Edition.
This time, Paul Edwards takes the microphone alone to share a deeply personal story with children, teenagers and young adults across America.
On 16 October 2024, Paul's life changed when he suffered a stroke. What followed was a journey involving seizures, neurological symptoms, uncertainty and an eventual diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
At the time, Paul could never have imagined where life would take him.
Today, while continuing to live with FND, Paul is an international FND advocate, author, podcaster and independent publisher. Through Paul Edwards Publishing, he is developing books, magazines and educational resources for audiences across the United Kingdom, United States, Germany and beyond.
He's also studying a Management for Health and Social Care degree pathway, building on his lived experience through further education.
But this episode isn't about collecting achievements. It's about discovering that life can still hold possibilities after an unexpected diagnosis.
๐ IN THIS EPISODE:
๐ A MESSAGE TO AMERICA'S YOUNG GENERATION
You don't have to become an author, a publisher or an advocate to prove anything.
You don't need to achieve extraordinary things to deserve respect.
Whether you're attending school, exploring your interests, making friends, managing difficult symptoms or simply taking each day as it comes, your life matters.
Paul's story is not a promise that every challenge can be overcome. It's a reminder that everyone's journey is different, and that opportunities, happiness and meaningful experiences can take many forms.
Your diagnosis is part of your story. It doesn't have to be the whole story.

๐๏ธ EPISODE 5: HEY, I'M MORE THAN MY STRUGGLES! ๐
Jennifer's Message to Young People | USA Youth Edition ๐บ๐ธ
๐ ONE YOUNG WOMAN. ONE MICROPHONE. ONE MESSAGE THAT DESERVES TO BE HEARD.
What happens when growing up feels like an endless cycle of anxiety, appointments, questions and therapy sessions?
And what if you just want someone to understand that there's so much more to you?
Welcome to a very special episode of FND Doesn't Define Me โ My Life, My Rules!
For the first time, Jennifer Kerr, our young adult co-presenter from Scotland, takes centre stage to share a heartfelt message in her own words.
Paul Edwards, the podcast's co-creator from the West Midlands, England, felt Jennifer's perspective was particularly important. As a young adult herself, Jennifer brings a voice that deserves to be heard by children, teenagers, young adults, families and healthcare professionals across the United States.
Rather than presenting this episode together, Paul has handed the microphone entirely to Jennifer.
๐ฌ WHAT DOES JENNIFER WANT YOU TO KNOW?
๐ Growing Up Isn't Always Easy: Hormones, emotions, friendships, school pressures and learning to understand your feelings.
๐ง Anxiety Isn't Always the Whole Story: Why physical symptoms deserve to be taken seriously and appropriately assessed, rather than automatically attributed to anxiety or depression.
๐ Life Beyond Therapy: Why appointments and support services should never become your entire identity.
๐จ Finding Your Happiness: Music, creativity, friendships, fresh air and discovering activities that bring you joy.
๐ Your Voice Matters: Why young people deserve to be listened to and involved in conversations about their own wellbeing.
โค๏ธ YOU ARE MORE THAN YOUR STRUGGLES!
Jennifer's message is simple but powerful.
You are not your medical records.
You are not your appointments.
You are not defined by therapy services.
You are a person with feelings, interests, ambitions, friendships and a future worth exploring.
Receiving therapy or other support can be valuable, and needing help does not make you any less capable or worthy.
You deserve both appropriate support and opportunities to enjoy being young.
A SPECIAL MESSAGE FOR AMERICA'S YOUNG GENERATION
Whether you're navigating middle school, high school, college or the challenges of early adulthood, this episode is a reminder that your experiences matter.
And to parents, teachers, therapists and healthcare professionals listening: young people deserve to be heard, understood and supported as individuals.
